Game Day 2024 Non-Swans Game Day

Having said I think Collingwood are shaky this year, I do get the sense that Essendon might be legit. Which is yucky.

They just can't seem to get off the canvas this year though. Shorter pre-season is brutal for grand finalists

Game Day 2024 Non-Swans Game Day

Good chance both of last year's grand finalists miss finals this year. One umpiring mistake away from that being the case last year as well. Kinda s**t IMO. Not that I'm necessarily that invested in seeing the same grand finalists two years in a row, but it will take the sting out of grand...

Game Day 2024 Non-Swans Game Day

Agreed. I always thought Dion Prestia was more important to that Richmond team than Martin and this was proven right in almost every outcome of one of them being tagged. But a legendary reputation in footy doesn't seem to be built on performance or output, but on the memory & iconography of...

In fairness, some haven't been massively into him for a long while even before getting injured this year

    Player Watch #12 Angus Sheldrick

If true that Colin Young is Sheldrick's manager, that would be a good thing for us down the road. He & Fremantle are famously beefing and Young seems more interested in his players fleeing Freo than going to them.

Preview Round 7: Bloods vs Hawthorn 4pm Sunday @ the MCG

I become more of a fan each time I see him. Particularly his follow-up defensive work. It is one thing to rack up possessions but it takes a different kind of player to be just as hungry to will himself on the game without the ball as he is with it. And I agree he's too good for the reserves...

Preview Round 7: Bloods vs Hawthorn 4pm Sunday @ the MCG

I say Hayward hardly does those things, yes. Not only does he not do them often enough to warrant a spot in the 22 (IMO), I think Parker could do them all and better.

Hayward hardly does those things anyway so yeah I'll take the Parker package thanks rusty!

Dustin Martin's career is fascinating to me. 10 decent to good years. Then 4 legendary years in between.

Preview Round 7: Bloods vs Hawthorn 4pm Sunday @ the MCG

I think the bolded is my biggest concern about where Parker fits, and why I kind of want to keep him in a specific role and not have him be so much up the field. He's kind of always had a bang-the-ball-forward mentality because he's just such a naturally aggressive and competitive bloke. We...

Media Swans Talk in the Media 2024

This was probably Rowbottom on the other end of the line, because WTF was with all the questions about his looks?
  22. caesar88

Preview Round 7: Bloods vs Hawthorn 4pm Sunday @ the MCG

I seeeeeeee. Yeah my worry with him is that the umpiring has gone so far one way with him that it's inevitable it will tip back the other way. I really hope that doesn't happen this week, and our players, especially Cunningham, Florent, Roberts etc. will have to be on high alert for it.

Preview Round 7: Bloods vs Hawthorn 4pm Sunday @ the MCG

I don't want him within a ten mile radius of the midfield, but Parker is a gun in general play and inside 50. This is a guy who can pull amazing highlights out of his arse, can actually stick a tackle, has great goal sense, and can offer genuine leadership across the field. He's a massive asset...

List Mgmt. 2024 Draft & Trade Hypotheticals

So weird that he won't unnecessarily sign his future away yet to a club that has no future

List Mgmt. 2024 Draft & Trade Hypotheticals

I think the situation's grim if it's a toss up between Hayward & Zurhaar. Both very mediocre IMO. Would take Parker over either of them.

To be fair, I'd take Jackson over Darcy. It was the re-signing of Darcy that probably made less sense, factoring in his contract.
