Not only are bumps banned now, but tackling too.
Think how many players have been injured in tackles. Way too much potential for injury!
Also gotta ban contested marking, lots of knees in the back, leg injuries from bad landings, tonnes of potential for injury!
And you know when most players...
So at the same time:
- A player can't be expecting contact when gathering a loose ball and so should go in low and open without any threat of contact
- A player knows exactly whether or not they'll get to a loose ball contest first, every time, without fail, in a split second
Let me run it through the MRP's criteria:
Brownlow favourite? Yes.
Media darling? Yes.
Nothing to see here. Kreuzer to apologise for any stress he caused Dangerfield by getting knocked out.
I'm not arguing the impact grade, but I don't understand how it could be deemed anything other than intentional.
Was he not trying to bump Wingard in the head? If not, what was he doing?
Crows fans think it's a joke too. But we also think that IF they have decided to find him guilty then there's absolutely no way they justifiably call it medium level impact when Lynch will miss 5 or 6 weeks with a broken jaw.
Well they're still comparable and it saves us creating another thread. Both players were suspended for incidents that were "good footy" a few years ago. The Viney one is particularly absurd but the AFL has set the precedent with the Fyfe and Douglas cases.
Crows supporters don't agree with it either, but this is what the AFL is now.
"Ridiculous in isolation, but not ridiculous seeing as the AFL itself is ridiculous."
Unless there was a 24 hour delay before Morris' injuries became apparent, he didn't actually end up in a wheelchair and is perfectly fine - something Sanderson would've been fully aware of during the press conference.
