To be technical it is actually on the line. So basically, the same point that last year would have been a ball up at the end of the goal square, it is now called play on. A player can not handball out of the square either. Must be kicked or ran out

Correct, once a player steps out of the goal square or kicks the ball, play on is to be called. No free kick will be awarded if a ball goes out of bounds from a kick in anymore unless it is on the full or the umpire deems it deliberate.

Would love to see a few more angles to see if there really is a head clash and how major/minor it is.
