Agree - Carlton should be forced to start Jack Martin as the sub and not allowed on until at least the 2nd quarter so he misses at least 25% of the next game....good shout.
I didn't think that incident was worthy of a week, but I do think there is a distinction. Danger was breaking the rules of AFL because he tackled Kreuzer without the ball and a free kick was called accordingly.
I may stand corrected, but I don't think a free kick was called against Cripps -...
If it's incidental contact in a legitimate contest, then no issues at all - it happens.
Only a few weeks ago there was an accidental head clash in the Carlton/Saints game - should Dan Butler or Hunter Clark have been suspended for being careless?
I think it will, and I think that will be detrimental to the game overall.
I don't want to see players getting injured, but at the end of the day, it is a contact sport and some head high contact will occur.
Outcome based policing has been the biggest issue in this topic.
Its a valid point about the way Cripps plays - I recall a video a few season ago when he was tutoring SPS on how to turn into the contest to use your body to protect the ball.
Found it:
The whole point being that he knows to turn into the contest to use his body to protect the fall of the...
What is now unclear to me is how this contest was different to the Plowman on O'Meara contest from a couple years ago:
In contest - both had eyes for the ball (and this was a marking contest), but Plowman was rubbed out (and lost on appeal). Not sure how Cripps gets off when we have that as a...
Well intent is always a key factor in deliberations. Probably less so when the original grading is "careless", but in the world of makey-uppey MRP, who knows.
Do you think in this case that if he extended out his arm further he would have done more/less damage? Perhaps he could throw out a cheeky elbow rather than tucking it in?
Plowman & O'Meara is probably the best comparison for mine. Late bump in the contest with no extended arm in the contest. Opposition player knocked out. AFL requested 2 weeks, Blues appealed. Lost. Appealed again. Lost.
Unfortunately for Cripps, the extended arm is needed to get him out of...

This was only a fine, and it wasn't in live play. Makes it hard to understand 2 weeks for Greene when you look at this, Fritsch and Dangers actions.
No, I think he's commenting on the late hit into the body of Weitering - particularly when contrasted against Plowman's suspension for a "bump" in a marking contest against O'Meara.
Worth highlighting that in the same passage of melee 30 second earlier, Fogarty pushes stocker in the upper back/neck which forces his head down into the astroturf which was unsighted by MRO.
The retaliation from Williams was in reaction to Keays lunging at doc with his elbow at docs head...
Could the AFL just let him play, but allow Collingwood players immunity if their infractions involve Toby?
You could say it's an "eye for an eye" [emoji14]
I'll get my coat.....
