Lotta love for Steele from the Saints. Not suprising, i reckon for a time Lenny Hayes was just about everyones fave player and Steele is very much in that mould.
The Goodes situation was a really odd cultural swarm, he got a lot of backlash for calling out the kid, then when it became evident the booing was affecting him (and I cant recall whether he came out and said it or the club came out and said it) it seemed to spurn even more people to boo him. I...
+1 for Brad Johnson, no idea why.
Also despised most of Carltons list during the 90's.
Darren Jarman for breaking my heart in 97.
Surely theres some older ones around Dermie? BT? Lou Richards abused the s**t out of me one day for flattening his grand son in a game but i still loved him.
I watched this game a few weeks back. Grant deserved it. Won it early and was a line breaker. Yes Bells goals (and most of his touches for that matter) came late when the sting was gone.
On Hayes, he was monumental that game without him we lose by 6-7 goals. Same with Goddard.
Whoever said...
If Jarryn was one of the 18-22nd players picked each week i would be happy. He will never be top 10 at the club (unless its a very ordinary side) but he has a place in many teams and is a heart and soul type player. I also dont think anyone "rates" him.
The modern day backman (and alot of the better backman from yesteryear) do hit up forwards lace out inside 50, see Suckling, Gilbee et all, it's a pretty big and crucial part of the game.
I used to think he was overrated, inconsistent, lazy etc but the more and more i've watched him he influences so many contests, you don't get to appreciate how many options he cuts off, pressure acts he enables and contests he is at doing something (sheppard, block, paddle etc) from watching the...
I did and i didn't see anything of those things. I saw a giraffe with roller skates on an ice rink. He might turn it around but he is useless at everything except tapping a ball to someone. I agree he is a better tap ruckman than McEvoy but he is a long way behind in every other area.
I usually have a favourite player on ability/playing style and one on personality, in rare instances these players are one and the same
Adelaide: Thompson/Walker
Brisbane: Zorko
Carlton: Robinson/Garlett
Collingwood: Swan
Essendon: Jobe/Heppell
Fremantle: It's a stretch i dont really like Freo...
I can see where you are coming from with the rest of your list (i don't necessarily agree but i can see what you have done) but Jack Riewoldt, 24 year old KPP who has won 2 Colemans won an All Aus (maybe 2 im not sure) and a club B&F overrated? Not sure what criteria you are going by there mate...
Not too sure why you would question how entrenched in Maori culture he is. Entirely your perogative i guess but for an example my step father is Italian hence i got his family (which by extension is my family) motto tattooed on my leg. Being that i am not Italian and don't look in any way...
Wow, someone is a bit touchy about it... I have tattoos and frankly i couldn't care less if you have them or not. I understand your point and yes some people get them as a fashion statement but you really shouldn't assume everyone that gets them does it for purely superficial reasons, even very...
I could be mistaken, but wasn't Leon "Butch Cassidy" Cameron one of the first "quarterbacks" because of his kicking? I remember him having a laser guided cannon for a boot.
