I think these days being a manager is the only way you get full time hours in retail.
The problem with department manager jobs is the s**t gets pushed down hill and you are effectively at the bottom so wear it all. All the casuals that are students and living at home and just earning pocket...
It's not so much about attracting customers but attracting good customers. I think you would want to have an affiliation with an accountant or financial planner etc for referrals or have an existing large professional network to mine.
For the OP I would look into registering for any of the government temp pools. Go around and register with all the different departments. I don't think they care much who they put on. They just need people that are available when they have the project on. I'm sure the ATO for example would have...
I had trouble getting a professional job after uni but worked all the way through school and uni so had the s**t kicker experience and could just leave the degree off the resume to get a job. After 5 years in a professional job though I think it would be tough to find any entry level work if I...
My work struggles for office space so they are keen for people to stay home and work as they don't want people sitting on top of each other if there is a second wave. They are only calling the people back in that can't work properly at home. I got the option of staying home until a vaccine is...
It works out this way for me but would appear the opposite for people with kids.
My work has been a lot less messy too, lowlife campaigners that usually cherry pick the work can't do that now when cases are allocated out by management instead of sitting in a pool and picked up directly by the...
If they let the school kids out then ISPs will need to block netflix, youtube etc during business hours or our crappy internet infrastructure will buckle.
It was a laptop. It was a little while ago but I think it was Officeworks. In the end I negotiated with HP to drop it off to some authorised repair shop in Clayton and got it done there.
I bought a computer under this assumption. Then when it needed to be fixed the store just told me to GAGF and post it back to the manufacturer anyway to be fixed under warranty. Might as well just buy it online.
I think that is basically how everyone has ended up with that robodebt from Centrelink.
Working casually their hours and income fluctuate between periods like you say but then Centrelink turn around and cross reference with the ATO and average your annual income to fortnights and then say that...
They get hundreds of applications for a job so essentially they put strict criteria in to actively discourage people to apply that don't meet all the requirements as they don't have time to go through thousands of applications if they were loose with their ad.
If you are going for a warehouse...
It took me two years after graduation to find a job in my field of study. I was probably too picky and just focussed on applying for full time jobs as I had a cushy casual job through Uni that paid well and I enjoyed doing that so kept plugging away.
The issue in Melbourne and applying via seek...
Just don't put the months in your employment history on your resume.
Say you worked for company x 2017-2018 instead of July 17 to Feb 18 or whatever.
That way it is not an issue until an interview. Then if asked specifically at an interview be honest about why and when the other job ended...
Where are you applying for jobs from?
The online websites might not display the salary on the ad but employers put one in behind the scenes so you can play around with the slider thing and find out what $10k band the salary is in anyway. At least it is somewhat of a guide and you can rule out...
Nurses can earn quite a bit. I've seen full time hospital nurses clock up $90k. Then there are others that have 2-3 casual jobs @ $22 an hour. Really variable industry.
Pharmacists and Pilots two professional occupations that have been curtailed by the rise of discount chains/carriers.
Qantas/Ansett pilots 20 years ago would earn more than Jetstar pilots today and with inflation that is crazy.
In Adelaide recently the SA police were actually advertising hard for school leavers. Saying it is a job where you don't need life experience, earn while you learn rather than live poor and racking up a HELP debt etc. I was pretty shocked. Maybe they just throw the net out and hope to catch a...
I did economics and finance. If I had my time over again I would do something else. There isn't really a tangible skill involved. Most of the jobs available in the industry are sales related and you need to be a snake oil salesman to succeed. The only business subject worth doing is accounting IMO.
If you don't mind doing it I would try to go down the accounting path in your situation.
A lot of finance is sales based as Teague covered. I have an analysis role but it was damn hard to get and I really feel with no direct customer contact the role will eventually end up outsourced overseas...
I think a lot of people giving advice on here (and whirlpool too) are so out of touch with the current marketplace.
I finished my degree in Melbourne two years ago. Distinction average from a G8 university, worked all the way through uni as a duty manager so I have all the leadership, teamwork...
