Tertiary and Continuing Laptops - What are you dragging around campus?

I'm thinking of getting this. I'm looking at every part at it's default setting except for the battery. I really only want to play source type games like Left 4 Dead 2 (ok so I won't due to the censorship), TF2, Half Life 2 etc, would this be overkill? I sort of want this reasonably future...

Tertiary and Continuing Tafe transfer to Uni

I don't want to start a debate but they are sorta critical. It differs from employer to employer and what industry. I'm sure there are threads here that vigorously debate that topic (maybe not in this relatively new board). 1 is pass average (50-59) 2 is credit (60-69) 3 is distinction...

Tertiary and Continuing Tafe transfer to Uni

Yeah $50 a semester that's another thing you've seriously got to consider. I don't know why TAFE institutions don't advertise this fact. Get 1.5 years of uni for $150! Save thousands! I think there are some conditions to the $50 thing though, like you have to be on a low income.

Tertiary and Continuing Group Assignments - More trouble than good?

Yes it does but it's not really reminiscent of how a real team in the workplace works if you leave students to their own devices. They will just split the work up and then bring it all together, that was the case with me anyway.

Tertiary and Continuing Tafe transfer to Uni

Depends how good your TAFE course was but for me at least this held true. It's more the fact that I had too much freedom going from TAFE to uni, more free time, you don't have any obligation to go to lectures etc. TBH it wasn't anymore difficult, a lot of stuff was actually repeated from TAFE so...

Tertiary and Continuing Theft at Uni

With RMIT for example which is right in the middle of city there is no student card checking so anyone can waltz in to the library or computer labs right off the street. In fact I have finished Uni but next year I'm going to get my student card stamped with a 2010 sticker so I get student...

Tertiary and Continuing Tafe transfer to Uni

RMIT is the answer to both. Two years isn't that long, you will get 1.5 years off your degree meaning it's only 6 months longer than the usual path, and that's not even factoring in people deferring, failing (ahem*) etc. RMIT have a 3 year accounting degree now without the year of co-op...

Tertiary and Continuing Tafe transfer to Uni

I did 2 years at TAFE for an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and got 1.5 years credit for a 4 year Bachelor of BUsiness (majoring in professional accountancy) program. I think to get credit the safe range would be a distinction average (70%) as that's what I got (or was it HD average?). I think...

Tertiary and Continuing The Business Thread

RMIT is an interesting one as it has industry based learning (although now they have 3 year degrees that don't include them) which quite often leads to a full time job. At the very least gives you an advantage over applicants without relevant work experience and even over people who have done...

Tertiary and Continuing Your Best Study stories...

Year 11 practice exam. Someone jokingly yells "pssst...what's the answer?". In uni I left a semester long major assignment to the last one and a half days. The assignment ended up being 19,000 words, around 30 pages, not including the appendix documentation. No matter how much study or work I...

Tertiary and Continuing PhD in Accounting

pHD in accounting is more academic. It's not a field like science where the main job is research. If you want to research the discipline of accounting and the theories behind it and research that then a phd will do. Seems like something you'd do after quite a few years in the industry if you...
