Traded Jordon Sweet [Traded to Port Adelaide for #50]

Racist ex-captain and 'spiritual leader' Racist pre-season camp Made player managers nervous after getting burnt in the Tippet brown paper bag fiasco Haven't played finals for seven years straight History of not being able to hold on to their star players Enough there to scare players and their...

    Traded Mega deal - 4 clubs, 2 players, 14 picks (inc #1, #2, #3, #8, #12 and 5 future picks)

Sure but the main point is Port were able to make out like bandits by: a) drawing down on the premium that GWS were willing to pay for pick 1, and b) the reasonably unique situation of WCE willing to trade 2 for 8+12 due to (most likely) targeting specific WA players. In isolation, pick 44 for...

    Traded Mega deal - 4 clubs, 2 players, 14 picks (inc #1, #2, #3, #8, #12 and 5 future picks)

I'm absolutely stoked with how Port went and can't believe we only needed to give up so little. We essentially part with 8 + F1 for JHF and Rioli. Never would have thought we'd get away with that.

Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Even after our worst season in 10 years we are still 4th for most wins over the last 3 years. Pretty easy to see 2022 was an aberration.

Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

We went 4-8 in games <18 points this year. Saying we go 0-12 in those isn’t “half empty” - it’s drilling a hole in the bottom of the glass to get the volume you’re looking for.

Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

So the problem is he could do a Jack Martin and say I want $1.2 million a year, so if you drafted him you’d have to pay him that knowing he probably won’t bother to train or play for you

Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Those contracts are only for first year players. Registered players getting re-drafted can set their own contract terms

Yep, tbh probably even slight overs
  9. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Karl Amon [re-signed]

Definitely. That pick will then likely be used for Mayes or in the Polec trade as part of the pick swaps that occur.
  10. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Ollie Wines [re-signed]

Technically you can, you'd just need to find a way to trade another first round pick either this year or next to satisfy the 4 year rolling window.
  11. Chrizzt

Traded Jarman Impey [traded to Hawthorn]

Nah he was never soft - his biggest problem was lack of concentration and ability to keep in the game. Would have a brilliant intercept off half back and run rings around 4 or 5 opponents to deliver inside 50 then you wouldn't see him again for another 30 minutes. If Clarko's found a way to...

Traded Brendon Ah Chee [traded to West Coast]

I don't know if you're taking the piss... because that's literally the opposite of what actually happens
  13. Chrizzt

Recommitted Hamish Hartlett [staying at Port Adelaide]

If this statement was true last year (which it wasn't) your club's drug cheating allowed us to save about $400k off the salary cap this year - so there's certainly no cap squeeze anymore.

Recommitted Hamish Hartlett [staying at Port Adelaide]

The bolded are facts, the rest are your opinion. You are using some basic stats then filling the gaps in with your imagination to fit your conclusion here - conclusions that come from someone who probably thinks dreamteam points are the best way of rating a player's impact. Hartlett isn't a huge...

    Recommitted Billy Frampton

Is highly rated internally at Port and we are short on ruck stocks as it is. Doesn't mean a trade isn't on the cards but he won't come cheap at all, and tbh probably won't be worth what Port will be asking for someone who has played zero AFL games.

Traded Troy Menzel [traded to Adelaide for #28 and Sam Kerridge]

You swapped a game winner and highly talented player in Menzel for a bunch of depth players. #notideal

Adelaide massive winners in this trade. Unbelievable by the blues.

Recommitted Cam McCarthy requests trade home to WA

Trade value is a hard one. All things being equal, I'd agree pick 12 sounds fine. However to a club like GWS who have a swag of young players and already have a top 10 pick, pick 12 holds far less value to them. On the other hand, pick 12 would be very valuable to Freo, who haven't had many high...

Recommitted Cam McCarthy requests trade home to WA

Yeah, clearly it does leave some sort of loophole, but I'm sure the AFL would be ready to swoop on this behaviour if it suspects anything. I don't think anyone would be game to try that these days.

Recommitted Cam McCarthy requests trade home to WA

No, you can retire, but not just quite a contract for no reason. If there is a legal reason to break the contract, that's another story but as another poster mentioned that's really only been done in the Ryder case.
  21. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Jay Schulz [re-signed]

Wasn't aware Vince was 30, had a declining performance profile, and was asking for a 2 year $500k per year deal even though you had a young gun willing to come in to replace him.
  22. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Jay Schulz [re-signed]

If we got Dixon he'd be doing next to no ruck work, and basically be a permanent forward. Lobbe has played a fair bit with Ryder this year. Granted they haven't both dominated together yet but I'm pretty confident that it'll happen soon, especially with the abolishment of the sub rule next year.
  23. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Jay Schulz [re-signed]

Why? Dixon replaces Schulz. Lobbe and Ryder swapping into a forward pocket, and Westhoff spends more time outside of forward 50 these days anyway, even attending a few centre bounces. Put Lobbe into a centre bounce and have Dixon, Ryder, and Westhoff ready to fly up and take a long bomb inside...
  24. Chrizzt

    Recommitted Jay Schulz [re-signed]

Schulz moved to Port from Richmond in 2009 so hasn't qualified as a free agent at Port. Apparently Port have offered Schulz two different deals but he has knocked them back, probably because they are nowhere near the $ of the Fremantle deal due to the aforementioned liklihood of Port landing...

Traded Patrick Ryder traded to Port for picks 17 and 37

That's fine. Do what Port did with Stevens and let him walk. He'll come straight to us as a DFA.
