A bit, especially with his aggression and attack on the footy. He won't ever be a first or second tall now, more third tall/utility where he can float in and use his good ground ball skills for his height.
I'd take whatever for him. Having him as part of the SPS trade is fine by me, maybe Carlton could give him more opportunity (although they seem to have decent tall stocks also) but in my opinion that is only part of the dilemma with Jarrod. Does he really want it bad enough? That is the biggest...
I think we will be happy to cut our losses at this point which is a shame. He hasn't been helped by our list position, but he hasn't done himself any favours at times either with some of his exotic attempts at attacking the footy.
I don’t think we have enough spots available to take this punt this year. A good year in the WAFL would create some interest if he is willing to go down that path.
We would rate him significantly higher than a third round pick, especially because our own small forward stocks have been decimated due to various reasons. He needs a full preseason and some time in the gym. He wasn't playing at the end of the year because he wasn't fit enough due to an OP type...
I don't think Brander has the capability to stand under or crash packs, or at least he hasn't demonstrated this yet. He is ridiculously clean below his knees for his size, his kicking is fine for his size and he has demonstrated that he can take some good marks floating in from the side of a...
I'm sure a few clubs are looking at him considering his talent and his brother. No chance Cameron leaves, he just needs a preseason that isn't derailed by injury.
He also has 2 more years on his contract.
Vardy would be delisting material.
Heroic 2018, stunk it up badly in 2019 and wasted his opportunity (Hickey was clearly better) and never looked likely in 2020 even before his injury.
He isn't a bad ruckman, he is decent around the ground and seems to get a few clearances but his tap work is only adequate and he suffers in comparison to Nic Nat. I am more than happy to keep him as our backup for another year as Williams keeps developing.
I think we have lost our chance to get real value for Brander until/unless he comes good. What is the going rate for a 195cm squib who is ridiculously clean below his knees for his size but has no set position yet?
Any activity would likely be fringe player out for fringe needs based player or picks. Even then, nobody seems to be actively keen to leave even in our Victorian contingent.
I suspect some clubs will sniff around Brander and Williams but in the case of Brander especially it would be selling at...
Makes sense.
There will be a few what ifs coming up I think. I also think that if COVID hit in 2017 instead of 2020 someone like Liam Ryan doesn't have a career and what a shame that would have been.
I'd take him without a second thought normally however our club has already hinted that soft cap reductions will mean less risks will be taken on players who may need more welfare or management resources.
Jarrod is far from a lock right now due to his interrupted preseason. Once the match fitness gets better he will be hard to remove, he genuinely loves tackling.
He will never play a game like the 2018 Prelim again against any competent team. Block any leading lanes and prevent him from running and jumping too much and you are set. Freeway sized leading lanes like the 2018 Prelim are a no-no.
