Don’t know what gws were thinking must have got spooked all reports were that st kilda we’re always going to take Wilson if he was available at there pick. Gws could have picked Leake with there pick without having to give away a future second rounder
I’m pretty happy what we got for him pretty fair value going on his output to date , we need to keep hitting the draft and it’s looking like a good one . The fact he is not costing Essendon anything in trade his worth a punt on there end hopefully it’s a win/win trade
His best will be an upgrade but come back here when he has a shocker , he refuses to handball or pass to teammates in better positions loves taking blind snaps at goal instead , won’t tackle or chase allows his opponent to run off and set up plays at the other end . for Essendons sake I hope...
Gresham has his good moments/games when healthy no doubt, but he also has just as many absolute stinkers were he is a defensive liability I’m not sure that’s the type of player you want to compete for a premiership with
I think we are sitting on the fence for a reasonable contract we would happily keep him . but with his injury history and up and down form if he wants 700-800k on a long term deal there’s the door, he also plays a position that is not really critical to our structure his not a full time midfielder
Makes no difference the academy players were never available in open draft anyway . the players we are looking at would still be available they would just be pushed back a couple picks . There isn’t a club in the competition that will give a good pick for a 30 year old Shiel on the salary his on...
No way would be effectively swapping Shiel for Gresham would much rather take the pick to the draft. Shiel is worth a late second at best not a end of first round pick
Gresham is not going to sign for peanuts I agree it won’t be band1 but Worse case situation we will get band two, which will be pick 19 we would be much better off accepting that compensation for him and taking it to the draft. Then doing a deal we’re we would be pretty much be swapping him for...
I agree he is not worthless he could still be a good player in the right team. It’s more a case of him being worth more to Essendon with his playing ability than what his actually worth in trade value that’s not saying his worthless
I would take pick 19 then but I would only be interested in Shiel for a low pick . If Essendon doesn’t need the cap space they would be better off keeping Shiel
I think the club is sitting on the fence they would be happy to keep Gresham on a reasonable contract, but if he decided to leave and we were getting band1 compo they would happily let him go . If we were only getting band 2 then they would probably push for more
Love Draper as a player and Bryan has potential. But in no way is wright a no1 level afl ruckman can obviously help out when needed but would be a liability if needed to do it full time. His a natural forward
A good comparison for you guys would be Jamie Elliot re injury history both similar level players that look like there about to turn into stars then always seem to get injured
I think There keen on playing marshal a lot more up forward similar to what we were doing when we had Ryder. We also have very little ruck depth if marshal gets injured
Will definitely take more than that if he decides to leave no offence but I think there will be more attractive suitors than north have heard whispers Essendon are keen
