Just replying here rather than in the other thread so people can find this info in the AFL Games forum if they're looking for it in future.
I just had a go at installing Footy Star again myself from here. Had no troubles installing but ran into the same issue as you trying to play it –...

Looks like this link still works - had no issues downloading and installing it just now.
Actually received an email from the creator of Premiership Coach a while back, and he mentioned that he was thinking of implementing a 'My Player' style mode in a future version (he said 2011, but that obviously didn't turn out).
Certainly something to look forward to. Would love a My Player...
Just wanted to mention that has been happening with increasing frequency lately; have had it happen four times in the past three nights or ~ten games, after only rarely seeing it previously. Also worth pointing out that it doesn't have to be a goal that eventually causes the crash; any fade to...
I do hope they include some kind of function to allow for rejoining games after temporary disconnects next year. My horribly unstable internet connection means my net tends to drop out during a game probably one in every five matches. It typically only lasts between 5 seconds and a couple of...
Yep fair call. I guess the main difference is that in NBA2k11, each player has their own disctinct shot animation, and accordingly has a different ideal timing for their shots. The feedback can be displayed for all shots, but can also be turned off.
Assumedly though, all players have the same...
AI control in general could do to be a little smarter. Granted, it's tough for Big Ant to know exactly what the players want done in any particular situation, but there are some obvious ones that stand out.
As mentioned, when a player up the field leaves their man to shut down the player with...
Agree to an extent with BlackMamba, in terms of having more explicit feedback on the ideal timing for pressing the mark button and jostling, even if it isn't in the form of a tutorial. NBA 2k11's feedback on shot timing springs to mind (tells you whether you're very early, slightly early...
Forgot to throw in 'things I noticed'; seems a good way to bring up the interesting points of the game, so here 'tis:
-Thompson kicked the first 2 goals and 1 behind (a poster) of the game; not bad for an inside mid! Mind you, none were set-shots, so my excuse for not knowing his preferred...
Prelim done against HBK. He'll have the full stats soon I'm sure (edit: apparently it took me a while to write this up), so I'll just throw up a summary from my point of view.
We were 11 minutes through the second quarter when my modem died (same as against Jorel), though this time I was up 38...
Good point, Eagles are going to be bloody tough in the game next year. Dreading 2012 Bulldogs... Curious as to how they're going to rate players like Brian Lake and Adam Cooney though.
Game done against Jorel, after a false start with my moden crapping out during the 2nd quarter. Scores were pretty much tied at that stage anyway, so neither side disadvantaged. Anyway, actual results as follows:
1st Semi Final: Adelaide (Mahama) vs Gold Coast (Jorel)
Adl: 3.0 6.0 8.2 11.3...
Just played mostoaus actually, be glad you didn't waste your time. I was default Adelaide, him default Geelong... Was up 25-1 halfway through the first quarter before he quit. It's possible I was toying with him with handballs from early.
Hey look, I'm up against SugarShane now! Let's see how...
I'm pretty sure the point that HBK is making, and it's one that I agree with completely, is that a "kick long at every opportunity" gameplan is one that in general is far less effective than a methodical gameplan where uncontested possession is ensured from one side of the ground to the other...
Ha... Though to be completely honest I'm now far more familiar with the in-game Scott Thompson than the real one. Unfortunately the in-game version has probably had a total of 2 set shots at goal all season, despite possibly leading the league in disposals.
Thompson's last 2 rounds:
-14 disposals in a side which lost by 34 points and had Pav and Sandilands dominate in.
-Not in the top 3 disposal or goalkickers.
So it pretty much goes without saying that... Thompson has it in the bag!
Interesting count so far. From an Adelaide point of view, and just looking at the stats, Thompson had a few big games in the second half of the year, but whether or not he's in contention will probably depend on how much opponents noticed him compared to Adelaide's goalkickers.
My other tips...
I would stick with my Pavlich prediction, and think Thompson and Deledio will do well as standouts in mediocre teams... But we all know Judd has this wrapped up.
Interesting note on Scotty Thompson, he managed to poll in 20 of 22 games in my BnF voting (unrelated to the Brownlow), in a system where only between 3 and 6 guys receive votes each game. Guy's a machine.
Keep up the good work Jorel, this'll be a handy distraction while I try to get a bunch of...
Ah fair enough. Though the bag he kicked against me from CHF was still pretty impressive.
Looking forward to the count too. Wondering how Scotty Thompson will go; seemed to be almost as prolific a ball-winner in the game as he is in real life, though might not get noticed by opposition...
It's worthwhile playing as standard teams, mainly to avoid falling into the habit that the vast majority of custom team users seem to have, of simply bombing the ball long at every opportunity and relying on superior stats to win the contests each time. Obviously said strategy would be fairly...
Just noticed something in that goalkickers list... Have you been playing Pav at FF Scooty? I know for our games he was CHF, but if he's been CHF all season, or even some of it, it's remarkable you have that many goals with him! Certainly no other CHF comes close even remotely close.
Looks...
AI games done against Collingwood. Have played very little against the AI in the past, was interesting... Throughout the two games the difficulty seemed to switch between ridiculously easy and impossibly hard.
Round 9 - Adelaide (Mahama) vs Collingwood (R2D2)
Adel: 2.1 8.3 13.3 16.6 (102)...
Agree strongly Gibbsy, this comp has been remarkably well-run from start to (almost) finish.
Daresay it's done wonders for everyone's level of play too. Certainly seeing the benefits myself; just beat the 2nd ranked bloke on PSN to give him his 23rd loss in 429 games, as an unedited Bulldogs...
