Soccer has a lot of game time where very little is happening and the crowds have traditionally filled that void with singing, dancing... setting off flares. Well you get the point. Cricket is a bit the same, particularly with the Barmy Army. The atmosphere is set by the crowd because a lot of...
Yes, I am one of them. Mind remains intact. Those men do not put in the time that AFL players do, they do a lot of time at the clubs. Let me tell you something that will blow your mind, there is significantly more to elite football than training.
Always going to be controversy in regards to the salary of the female players. I'd like to see them earn good money and one day I think they will but consider this.
This is a fledgling competition. It needs to earn money before it can start spending money, if the Women's competition makes...
Big question would be, how many of those people are members, therefore not paying to get in. With such a big membership base you'd have to suggest quite a few. Makes me wonder with more teams in Victoria, do Victorian clubs get more non-members (mutual supporters) through the gates...
The AFL look really bad here, first they give them this COLA which was wrong in the first place, then they punish them for using it as you would expect. Not only did it punish them but every other team by banning them from trading players, other clubs would have found it difficult to obtain...
mate it's basically face, you give a club an more money to spend on players then another club and that club wins the bidding war that is trade week every single time.
bias much, come on, how is this not obvious as hell, even the most ignorant can see that the extra allowance has helped the swans obtain two highly priced guns in the last few years.
If this wasn't the case then every one would have been in the running for buddy.
The COLA has been misused. Its very obvious.
It was designed to be spread out over the playing list to compensate the players for a higher cost of living in Sydney compared to other cities. It's not, I don't think Sydney's players would be on any more than players in other successful teams...
The money that would be lost by shortening the season would be enormous for clubs, the league, media outlets, stadiums etc. What footy fan wants to extend the footy-less period by 7 weeks per year?
Shortening the season would be crap for the spectators and every one involved in the competition...
I'd love an AFL reserves and the return of the curtain raiser. It would be a good excuse to get to the game earlier and gives the chance to see the second tier players more. Plus it would help with the bye riddled VFL fixture.
The issues of cost and wear and tear on the ground surface...
change for the point of making a change. I don't think this is overly fair, the fixture has no influence on the top four and sometimes a possible influence on the bottom 4 in the top 8. It's not an issue at all.
