Hey?? The AFL is looking to pay all wages for men’s AFL and take it away from clubs because it’s effectively paid by the AFL through it’s dividend to the clubs.
Well they’re pouring a mini fortune into Suns and Giants so yeah they could do the same for AFLW but I think the cost for full pro is too high.
Also other investments usually have a shorter timeline. With AFLW I think it’s going to take at least a decade or so to even think of going pro.

No they can’t. Even if you pay 30 players $50k each, over 14 teams that’s $20m a season in just player wages. The AFL is already pumping several million a year into the league.
Needs to pay its own way to some extent and that means paid entry first.
AFL has already committed $60mill over next 6 years. How on earth do you pay full time wages when you don’t even charge for admission. Ratings are down.
And the skill level is going to take a long time to improve if you are expanding by six teams in next two years? Can they really add another...
Find a couple of grounds and reduce the field size. Also reduce 50m penalty to 30m. Even though standard is low compared to men's game. if they increase scoring with a smaller field, fans may find it a little more interesting.
I've posted on here myself to give this time and the crowds and ratings have been excellent. Will these crowds/ratings be maintained? I doubt it initially but that's not a negative. Give it time to build.
But my question and that of many others is, does it warrant such a widespread coverage...
Got to take long term view with this. More and more girls will now choose football as there is now a career path. It'll take a few years for the skills to come up to scratch. It will never be the standard of VFL or top metro men's leagues but that's not the point.
