    On the weekend I played...

Played a bit of Betrayal on the weekend - good fun, except one haunt sucked a bit as it started early-ish and one of the rules was that we weren't allowed to to take any more cards. Boo. Gave Codenames a go too for the first time. This is really good, easy to learn. A bit dangerous if players...

    On the weekend I played...

Got a copy of Betrayal (2nd edition) for xmas. Have not played it yet but have given the rules a good going over. Question to those here who have played it - need I bother printing out the online FAQs and errata? It seems they apply to the first edition, and from what I can see anything...

    Power Grid

Yeah they cost a bit up front but after that you don't fuel them. In my example the expected outcome from a probably point of view stays the same, so prices can remain as is; it just adds a chance dimension. But yeah, I've gotta get paying with more people, i think resource scarcity and network...

    Power Grid

Played this for the first time recently. Only two players though, but even then it was engaging. Imagine four player would be excellent. I'm one of those people who like think about rule changes that would enhance a game, wondering what you guys think of this one: For the "renewable" power...

    HeroQuest

Best was debatable, but when i played, the Dwarf was always last picked. He was even mocked in a weird cult black comedy "The Strange Calls" on ABC a few years back by Barry Crocker's character mentioning "he doesn't even have any spells"

    HeroQuest

Used to love this game. Was randomly reading up about in on the web when I noticed a 25th Anniversary Edition with new rules etc was planned for last year, but they ran into Intellectual Property / funding issues or something like that. Reading now it's hard to tell if it is still planned or...

    Chess

Yeah free to join and play. Chess960 is basically the same as chess except that the back row of pieces are randomly positioned for any given game. Bobby Fisher invented it because he thought it would be more suitable for players that had a natural instinct or skill for the general principles...

    Chess

Yeah I've had the odd occasion where I've had to go through the motions of explaining it, even going into detail about how the pawn's two square option is a relativley new rule, etc. It is probably the one rule that people don't know that coms up in play. I'm sure there are many who dont know...

    Chess

Yes chess is indeed the game of kings. I haven't really got into chess.com I probably should - but nothing beats an over the board game with a nice chess set. Doss indeed it doesn't get any better than winning after a Queen sacrifice. Have you checked out the "Immortal Game"? Quite possibly the...
