The problem for the SANFL and the WAFL is that as a co-op, they had to protect their weaker clubs. Their is no way a West Adelaide or a Swan Districts would have had a chance to compete on a national stage, whereas a Port/Norwood/East Freo or West Perth could. What happens to the s**t kicker...
Isn't there a bit of an SA connection with the formation of the WAFL with a few notable founding figures being educated at Prince Alfred College and bringing the game back with them to Perth?
