Went to the Melb concert that wasn't cancelled (thank ****) in 2004. Was great apart from the venue. Going to try and get tix but I don't fancy my chances, especially with the internet at work...
They were the first band I ever became obsessed with. Own all of their albums and was lucky enough to have awesome seats (straight in front about 5 rows back) for the Melbourne and Sydney concerts the last time they were out here. So you could say I appreciate them!
FWIW I think New...
Wow this seemed to come out of nowhere!
Loved In Rainbows, which although I worship all they create thought was their best since the Kid A masterpiece.
Cannot wait!
Massive band, but I don't particularly like them (and I can't stand Bono).
I agree with all those who think the earlier stuff is good but the recent stuff is bland.
They play the Irish card well, which has helped their mainstream popularity.
I hear ya brother. It was a great night that could have been perfect. Would be much better with this latest release...that North American concert playlist is insane.
I have no idea why I haven't picked this up yet. Saw them live on that tour twice in about 3 days. Both concerts were A+.
I haven't heard anything about the new album, apart from I'm Gonna DJ, and I don't want to until I put in my cd player for the first time. Should be very interesting if...
Haha I meant Talk Show Host you nut!
Just winding back on this friday evening. I teased myself by not letting myself listen to the album for a couple days. Glad I did. Perfect way to end the work week, listening to it while having a couple beers.
Videotape is such a perfect song to end...
Country Feedback by R.E.M is unreal live. The Roadmovie dvd showing them play it on the Monster tour is magic. Went absolutely nuts when they played it in Melbourne (or was it Sydney, I think it was Melb) a couple years ago.
This might be a bit premature but I think it's their 3rd best behind OK and Kid A (I don't rate The Bends as high as most for some reason).
Nude is still my fave but the whole album is full of goodness!
Forked out 5 quid and am really liking it after only 2 listens.
Nude was the first song that got me (I hadn't heard a second of any track before i downloaded it).
After another half dozen listens I think i'll be totally in love with this album.
