    Your upcoming gigs

About the 5th time for me. Great live show. Take a Bow a pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting it. Highlights for me were the usual suspects: Hysteria, Knights, Stockholm Syndrome, Take a Bow, Plug In Baby. I live in hope of seeing them do Micro Cuts again, but I fear its not going to happen...

    Midnight Oil - 50 to 1

That was the first concert I ever went too as a 15yo. What an impression they made live. They were awesome and Rob Hirst doing Power & the Passion sticks in my mind from that show. Saw them at Festival Hall a couple years later. I recall as a kid doing the old play/record buttons on the...

    Midnight Oil Tour

Busting to get tickets for this. Only saw them a couple times early on in the piece. (Kooyong in about '85 and Festival Hall '87ish). Will look to try and get tix for Hanging Rock & the Music Bowl.

Song that everyone loves that you hate.

No mentions for "White noise" yet. Or is that because everyone hates it?

Me too. I wouldn't be surprised if Woody was standing either right in front, or right behind me.

    Songs/Voices which give you shivers

Off one of my favourite albums. The Gunners Dream and the title track do it for me.

    Pink Floyd -Waters or Gilmour

Very true. I thought the fact that it was live added to the fact that they could almost pass as the real thing. Regardless, they are bloody good. I thought The Australian Doors Show were good, but these guys are better.

    Pink Floyd -Waters or Gilmour

I downloaded those 2 the other day smasha. Incredible stuff. Especially the Comfortably Numb cover.

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

I couldn't tell you mate. All I know is that one of the guys was Wilbur Wilde's brother (I think). It was a shame when they disappeared. I reckon the last time I would have seen them would have been about 1990-1991.

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

Thats the one's. They were awesome. Used to go on Thursdays to the Forresters Arms in Oakleigh to see them :p

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

Nah, I went to school at Ringwood. But the Skateranch was a mere hop, skip and jump on the train from East Ringwood station. 'Bout a 3-4 UDL can trip to be precise ;) It's a fair while ago now thats for sure, but I vaguely remember meeting some very fine, accommodating young lasses there...

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

Good stuff Dragonwagon. I have to own up to seeing them once. At the Nunawading Skateranch!!!! :D :o Don't know if anyone remembers them, but my favourite pub band was The Nazz. Cover band but they did a fantastic show.

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

Funny thing is, they were very mainstream at one stage. I'm guessing about 1985 ish. They were big with the teenage girls when I was at High School, along with Kids in the Kitchen, Pseudo Echo etc. I was taking the pi$$ a little with my comment because they were embarrasingly bad imo...

    Australia's Best Band Ever..

My favourite Aussie band is Midnight Oil, especially their stuff up to and including 10 to 1. I also like AC/DC, particularly up until For Those About to Rock. Lost a bit of interest after that. The Angels were'nt a bad band either. I'm a little surprised that The Uncanny X-Men haven't got...

Got 2 Oils cds to nearly finish my Oils collection for chrissy

I remember the mats being thrown around and Peter Garrett having a word to everyone to chill a bit. I wasn't on the court area though, was in one of the stands. I went hoping for a Rob Hirst special and he didn't dissappoint thats for sure.

Got 2 Oils cds to nearly finish my Oils collection for chrissy

That JJJ 10th birthday show was incredible. Loved the oils back then. Only saw them a couple times. About 1985 they did some shows at Kooyong and a bit later at Festival Hall. Great live band. Lost a bit of interest in the newer stuff, but Head Injuries is still one of my favourite albums.

What music from our era will stand the test of time?

Pearl Jam Nirvava REM I don't think the quality is as good now as it was 30 years ago. My kids are listening to Pink Floyd, The Doors etc and don't mind it at all. I don't have the same confidence to say that their kids will be listening to much of todays music. (In fact they'll...
