A lot of people consider this the first metal song, and yeah it's heavy as *.
I actually think his heaviest track is below, I've played the main riff off this song through my electric and heavy distortion and it sounds great, very similar to a Megadeth riff I reckon.
I know they're heavy...
If I could go back to any gig in Melbourne's time it would be Metallica at Festival Hall in 89, epic so they say. Mortal Sin supporting too i believe which would have been cool.
Now we're talking! It's funny that concert (was actually 2 i believe) is so well remembered as their peak, but of course there was no Cliff. You can see the anger in Hetfield I reckon, and actually Newstead was a great live performer anyway so sum of his parts helped them put on a better show.
I listen to more old music than new music I reckon, because I have access to music that I wouldn't buy back in the day I've still got stuff to discover.
That said I try to listen to a new album a week, on average I reckon I do. Must be tough to invest that amount of time in recording an album...
Yeah for my first piss the dunnies were already rooted, tended to piss on the fence from halfway through tbh.
I was going to say you must have been standing near me, though you smelt it everywhere of course! I think a lot of people decided to light one for the start of Pantera, geez the smell...
Great day yesterday, hearing those Pantera songs was surreal to be honest, Zakk did Dime justice for sure.
Disturbed were actually ok, still dont like their songs but they put on a good show. Lamb of God epic of course, great singalongs and heaps of fun.
The Hu were great, I watched a show of...
Anyone go to Pantera last night? They played Floods, hope that stays in the Knotfest setlist.
Anyone going to Knotfest come and say gday, I’ll be the white bogan guy in a black tshirt!
Yeah that's fair enough. I think we can get caught up a bit in genre names, they're good to give you an idea for what a band might sound like but in the end it will blow your hair back or it won't.
Yeah I mean if you ask a non metal fan the "cores" sound the same as thrash probably, but there's a massive divide between metal fans around this. I've come around to the sound a bit I must say.
I disagree. I mean I guess they all come under the umbrella of heavy music anyway, they're close...
The new Mammal album, it's good fun but if ever there was a "live band" it's them, their albums usually don't excite me much but their live shows are awesome
The new Job For a Cowboy is alright, great playing but not sure their songwriting is there for me.
Gave Havok a go, very enjoyable, Comformicide was the album.
To be fair I think this one was sort of deliberate, I think this was meant to be a bit of a tribute album, they have a Metallica style song, a Guns and Roses song and a Dio song on this among others. But yeah this one is pretty obvious.
And on Bon Jovi I've always liked them too, my older brother loved them growing up so I always listened to them. My tastes got (way) heavier as I got older but it's still alright occasionally.
