Hang on, so the player has an unofficial test and then, if they test positive, the club doctor will deliberately mislead the club and say, oh player x has a strained hammy, or whatever, and needs to sit out the next game?
Okay, there’s something I don’t understand about this.
So a player goes out on the town, snorts a few lines but, no worries, the club sends him off for a bit of unofficial pre-testing. Then if he comes back positive the club tells him, no problem, sit the next game out matey, put your feet up...
I’d actually argue why not go one step further - if it goes through the main posts from a kick it’s six points, regardless of whether the ball was clearly touched or hit the post.
Aside from how obviously disgusting this all reads, I can’t fathom how the coaches actually thought it was a good idea to cut these players off from their families.
What kind of thought process leads to a conclusion that terminating pregnancies, breaking up with partners and cutting ties with...
It never ceases to amaze me that sportsmen and other celebs think it’s a good idea to post videos of them getting tanked up in nightclubs (or taking suspect white powders in some cases). In the club it might be fine but on video it very rarely comes across well.
The previous company I worked for had a table at the Swans ‘Chairman’s Lounge’ every game and I got to go a couple of times each season.
All very nice - three course meal, unlimited drinks before and during the game, snacks at half time and then more drinks after the game. Plus speeches, some...
I think it was a couple of seasons ago (last full season played) that he finally won a Grand Final after appearing in about ten or so. Apparently just genuinely loves playing the game regardless of what lower grade of local footy he might now find himself in.
I absolutely understand the issue with Cornes but I see him as a bit of a necessary evil to counteract the nauseating ‘boys club’ of other ex-players in the media who go to ridiculous levels not to criticise players even when their transgressions are clear to see.
Yes, he goes overboard...
A minor point but according to Sydney they never actually offered the Papley pick to Essendon because Dodoro had already told them not to bother as it wouldn’t get the deal done (he wanted players instead).
Edit: sorry, just realised the date of your post and that the conversation has moved on...
Sydney/Canberra based players should see this as very good news if the likes of Sydney Uni and Canberra Demons do participate.
They can stay based close to home, aim to play in the highest level competition below AFL and, if they still cling to very slim hopes of getting drafted, have a much...
Taylor was an idiot and has deservedly been punished. However it was sadly only a matter of time before some racist piece of crap thought they would be a keyboard warrior and post something like that.
So what are the ‘AFL regulations’? What specifically is compliant and non-compliant in this regard. Is the problem the “hybrid sole plate“? Anyone know?
When I played soccer metal studs and plastic studs were both allowed. The issue, and why referees inspected boots before the game, was whether the studs were worn or damaged in any way. It wasn’t the fact that a stud was metal that was a problem, it was whether it was worn and jagged (and...
Okay, you agree with those aims, I don’t and that’s absolutely fine. The point wasn’t so much whether it was right or wrong. As I’ve stated previously in this thread and the other one, the point is simply that if someone states that they are kneeling in support of the BLM Movement they should...
You know that he was watching and reading the BLM website and gofundme page, right? BLM are quite open about it, they specifically state, for example, that their aim is to dismantle capitalism and abolish the police.
The Black Lives Matter UK Gofundme page literally states that it does mean exactly that:
“How we’ll spend the funds! ...
- Developing and delivering training, police monitoring and strategies for the abolition of police“.
It also states that its aim is to dismantle capitalism. If you share...
I actually quite like Bunk and generally enjoy his posts even if I don’t always agree with them. I’m not even saying don’t support the BLM Movement if that’s what you believe. I’m just saying be educated and be clear exactly what it is that you are supporting.
For what it’s worth I support the...
Why? The clubs and players have stated that they support the BLM Movement. I assume they would have researched the movement before actually stating their support for it. No?
So Les is wrong? You deny that their stated objectives include dismantling capitalism, disrupting the western prescribed family structure and defunding the police? Feel free to refer to the BLM website and the BLM UK Gofundme page before replying.
I assume that before the clubs, the players, the AFLPA and the AFL decided to ‘bend the knee’ in support of the BLM Movement they researched exactly what it was they were supporting.
The BLM website and the BLM UK Gofundme page make for very interesting reading. Among the objectives they note...
