Taking the names of McDonald and Phillips out of it.
North ****ed up not picking the key forward.
They are starting a rebuild and have barely any key forwards except Larkey...so it was a big need.
Key forwards are hard to get and they had a golden opportunity to draft a highly rated one...
Anyone else seeing some red flags with Clarkson?
I dont think all clubs should automatically have him as their no.1.
Biggest concern is how he is STILL flipping back and forth about whether he even wants to return to coaching...he has said he sometimes gets the burning desire, but sometimes...
He's improved this year and he, tdk and Kennedy have played all 3 games with Kennedy a stand out.
Gibbs meanwhile barely played for Adelaide and spent most of it in the 2s.
Youd have to say we were big winners here.
On the small forwards, sure the real top line small forwards are very few, but I don't feel like Essendon have really had any damaging ones in a number of years except Tippa. And of course they don't have to be a bunch of A graders, but somewhat effective and I'd say Essendon's have been under...
I think he's good at identifying talent and getting good deals during trade period.
What seems to let him down is building a balanced list.
It's been quite publicised that Essendon have a small midfield full of players who'd rather receive rather than win the ball.
Essendon aren't exactly...
By your logic, journalist's also shouldn't be mentioning when an injured player is returning, or a debutant named ahead of the games either...but I bet you and most people enjoy that news because they are a good news stories.
Would you also have a problem with a journo saying an injured player...
Clearly emotions got the better of Bevo...deep down his issue clearly is with the leaker.
His outburst at Morris was about how his public airing of things like leaked team selection was obviously highlighting to him they have a leaker and a problem...he then describes this as causing 'turmoil'...
I reckon it's true but Edmund put a bit of mayo on it...after Buckley called him out he's sticking to his story.
Buckley would never have said it in those words that the senior players 'dont want you around anymore'...but more something like 'us as a coaching group and the senior players feel...
I understand that and it's good work from those clubs.
But particularly the Richmond case, where the reigning premier got one of the best key forwards in the comp for nothing in terms of trade, isn't great for the competition.
Yeah but putting Richmond out of the equation, for a reigning premier to get one of the best key forwards in the comp for nothing is a bit a joke for equalisation.
Lynch going to Richmond for no draft picks after they won a premiership really sucked for equalisation...he definitely helped them be premiers in 2019 and maybe again this year...he's the main man up forward, Jack Riewoldt is only a side kick now.
Geelong getting Cameron would be a similar...
I agree with you but you can see the potential for manipulation and this would be for all clubs (although advantage to the bigger/richer clubs)...isn't it well known Collingwood board members paid off Beams' gambling debts? In this scenario the player could officially agree to accept less/no...
Objectively it is right up there with one of the worst contracts you'll see...certainly in modern times. $500k a year is not a small amount and Beams hasn't played and isn't going to...still TWO more years to go.
There should absolutely be some questions raised publicly and typically it...
The carry on is BECAUSE of Dodo's laughable actions like asking for Sam Walsh...if 'triggering' the opposition is your club's main goal instead of mutually beneficial outcomes for the clubs and player then good for you.

Dodo being difficult with both Carlton and Brisbane...after asking for Charlie Curnow/McKay/Walsh or pick 7 + De Koning from...
Our offer was fair for a player who wasn't even in GC's best 22 by the end of the year, was OOC and it was the second year in a row Martin had wanted out (was close to joining Essendon the year prior).
The only reason they were able to turn our offer down is because the AFL had already gifted...
Wells seems to deal quite fairly and in a way that both teams can be satisfied with the outcome...I don't think he's the kind of operator to start with an outlandish request and try to squeeze every little bit out of every trade. Which yeah is why he gets deals done.
Dodo is too focused on...
That's making excuses for Dodo and playing victim mate.
Most of the media were already saying pick 7 was around the ballpark and talking about Essendon going to the draft with 3 x top 10 picks already...if he had asked for pick 7 alone not everyone would be saying he's unreasonable...
Audacity is a good way to describe it.
I can imagine the carlton contingent giving each other 'wtf' looks and letting out exasperated sighs.
Ideally when trading both parties would trade in good faith and make it clear they want a fair and reasonable outcome both parties can be happy with...
Shocked you guys no longer are offering Brown a contract given his 3 years before this one...seems to be a good clubman too.
Yeah yeah I get people saying he won't be in Norths next premiership side but that's not the only reason you keep players.
Still need some senior bodies and with 11 list...
And they'll get less for Fantasia than what they could have gotten last year after playing only 5 games in 2020.
Some might say Fantasia 'backflipped' but Essendon were fighting hard to keep him and convince him to stay.
Irony is that in fighting so hard to keep Daniher & Fantasia, two players...
Now pick 7 this year only at best...there's just no way to spin this one.
I guess some will still say forcing Daniher to stay was the right decision at the time...but not sure how they come to that logic given, as you said, he'd been injured for 2 years and really wanted out of the club AND...
It was pick 9 and Sydney's 2020 1st rounder (pick 3) for Daniher.
But your point still stands, Dodo's incompetence has cost Essendon a top 10 draft pick and potential young gun.
