Nick will never be the GOAT Collingwood player let alone the GOAT VFL/AFL Player. This is an embarrassing thread and ridiculous to even debate for a third year player. Pressure and over inflating players potential has destroyed the careers of many a young promising player. Be careful the weight...
I think this is a common case of over rating a player from your team. Every supporter base does it and Fadge is the latest victim of it. Can't see the forest for all the trees.
Makes such a huge difference to the team by giving us a long target to kick to, bringing the ball to ground, being that linkup player down the wings and, of course, taking big marks and kicking goals (most of the time!).
Tall forwards are worth their weight in gold, not only for what they bring...
The difference is that our Core Stars were not 30+ when we started our string of premierships. Also we did bring in new players to replace aging and retiring stalwarts during that period (Lynch, Bolton, Baker, Short, Balta, Pickett etc all joined the team as players such as Grigg, Rance, Butler...
Numbers mean nothing unless the supporters can bring money to the table. Its all about ratings, memberships, merchandise, ticket sales and media/story interest.
This is a ridiculous argument without evidence, list comparisons and facts. I have no idea about Geelongs youth no more than the majority of Geelong (or other opposition supporters) would have about Richmonds. Even if we have the lists profiles, we have no idea which players will out perform...
I find it hilarious the outrage and contempt opposition supporters are directing at Dimma for daring to not hanging around at the club to be sacked. He owned Richmond and our supporters nothing. He wanted to start afresh and knew we needed to do the same with a new coach. Gale will do the same...
You can't choose who you're fixtured against, only how you perform against them. Dusty is the best big game player that has ever been and has proven it again to show his love and respect to his two closest friends on their retirement. Demonstrates the type of person he is and why he is the best...
Have to make history if they win it from here. I don't think its likely. I think they went too hard too early. The past is littered with unbeatable teams early in the season who faltered and ran out of steam at the business end of the year. Richmond did it in 2018 and learned to time its run in...
I think Brisbane certainly has. I heard a Brisbane player interviewed and they said they pushed forward aggressively on Collingwoods backline to shut down the space and made the Pies wingmen accountable breaking down their ball movement and overlap by hand. Seems to have worked over the past...
No, but he could have been. Richo had all the talent in the world but lacked the defensive skills and ability to make other better around him. He also needed a mindfulness coach, like Dusty has had, so the little demons didn't get in his head while he was kicking for goal. Richo was the most...
They measure ratings to determine what a shows worth is to sponsors. If the NRL is rating significantly better than the AFL, then their TV Rights would mirror this. It doesn't. Not even close. The AFL is increasing its participation, its attendance, its revenue, its sponsorship, its national...
How did this suddenly become an NRL v AFL thread? NRL are irrelevant - propped up by the Sydney media and some older die hard geriatrics who still want to 'Bring back the Biff!' The NRL ratings do not tell the whole story - the AFL's TV Rights are always considerably higher than the NRL because...
Listening to SEN and reading the articles (see above), it doesn't sound like South Australia's participation numbers are dropping, it's just that Queensland's number have risen dramatically.
Queensland now has more AFL participants than South Australia

You have to be correct. No young, inexperienced coach would make demands before they have even arrived. The only possible scenario in this situation is that it is Dimma. If that is all true, I think Gold Coast will be a force to be reckoned with from the next year and building from there. A bit...
Gold Coast - with a new coach to get all their superstar kids al pulling in the one direction, the Suns will finally realise their potential and become the next dynasty team.
Plenty of years away but I wonder what impact the Olympics will have on the Lions and Suns? I can imagine there will be some heartburn when their stadiums are being renovated but beyond that, they should have state of the art facilities. Will be interesting with all the focus being on the...
I actually think this is why Stewy Dew's days are numbered. Despite how well the team does this year on field, the AFL are very eager to capture the public's attention off-field. I can't think of another team the AFL would be more concerned about at the moment than the Suns, given their...
The culture in Queensland has certainly changed, particularly in Brisbane. AFL is a legitimate sporting pathway for kids now days without the hindrance of the all encompassing rugby bias there once was. Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of old timers with their heads in the sand, waving...
On the weekend, the coaches voted Riewoldt our best player followed by Bolton, Taranto and Balta who are all no where near 30. Looking through the stats for the game, excluding those already mentioned, our best players were Prestia, Short, Baker, Martin, Ross, Nankervis, Ralph-Smith, Rioli. Ryan...
Again - speculation. No one can say with any certainty based on undeniable evidence, that Carlton, Richmond or Geelong's youth is going to be stronger than another teams. We can guess based on history, given that younger players tend to improve with age, but we can't say whose is going to...
You won the flag last year yet have struggled to string together games off the back of an aging list and a group of supposedly promising youth. What makes you think you will not continue to slide down the ladder for the next 3 years?
I wouldn't have any idea if I should trust Geelong's 'program' more than Richmond's. You shouldn't either. Richmond was written off in 2016, told to our youth was deplorable, that we should strip the list bare and rebuild again. The next year we won the flag and used that 'deplorable list'...
Going right back to the actually question, the answer is - I have no idea. People who pretend to have any idea of the potential of their own list, let alone a foreign clubs, is utterly delusional. This is a Bay 13 thread with more trolls in it than a 90's toy store.
