I don't really have an opinion on Nicks but this is a silly comment - Alistair Clarkson could be their coach and they'd still be well and truly on track for bottom 4. The Crows problems are going to take more than 17 matches for anyone to fix.
If the Crows board got rid of Nicks before the end...
Once again?? That was the first time I responded to any points you made :drunk:
And you brought up crowd figures, but now think your own post was purely you saying "i'm all for you playing all your games down in Geelong" and nothing more? What point are you even trying to make??
Most of your...
Since when have the admins decided to allow trolls to become mods on here?
Are you going to contribute or just post Bay 13 style garbage as per the quoted post?
That doesn’t explain the mediocre crowds we’ve consistently had against you though, with with the exception of the last two matches (where you’ve been the home team) Richmond vs. Geelong matches in Melbourne have almost always drawn very mediocre crowds. Meanwhile our home matches against...
We should be playing 11 games in Geelong. I’m just saying that if we’re forced to play 2 home games in Melb per year then we should at least get to preference who they’re against out of the 11 home matches we have, and Richmond would be a very distant 4th preference even when they’re winning...
Tbh I kinda disagree on that. In virtually all cases our 'home' matches in Melbourne against Collingwood, Essendon and (since 2008) Hawthorn have been high drawing crowds. This hasn't been the case at all with Richmond and Carlton.
For example our last home game against Essendon got 63k...
It's important to remember that our record at Kardinia Park is inflated by the fact that we only really get to play the Melbourne teams that are doing badly there. Other than our 2015 season where we missed finals and were a very average team, the last Vic team to beat us in Geelong was North...
IIRC clubs don't get revenue for attendance in finals, it all goes to the AFL although I'm not sure whether/how it's dispersed to the clubs. It was why in that final there were Cats members who have sat in the same seats for decades weren't able to sit in their usual spots.
The other issue...
Strangely enough it may have cost St Kilda a flag, it probably at least cost them a shot. We would've been unlikely to beat them in the PF (I'm not sure we even had a fit ruck left on our list once King went down in the SF).
While WC would go in favorites a Saints vs Eagles GF could've gone...
Brisbane still get as much from the AFL as the expansion clubs, which is more than the small Vic clubs who are apparently on "life support". Why not get rid of those 3 too?
And Port were on "life support" not too long ago too, and will have by far the smallest fan base out of the remaining...
Yeash this thread....
Over in the Bundesliga the big 4 clubs have set up a €20m fund to help out all other clubs, and here we are with folks seemingly wanting a Hunger Games style battle between the smaller clubs.
The Fitzroy experience should be enough to suggest that getting rid of a club is...
Our biggest problem is we've been doing the same thing for 7 years and expect different results.
Hawkins form is a symptom of this, he isn't the problem. If our midfield didn't move at a snails pace and play risk free footy, and he produced the same results then yeah absolutely he should be...
He virtually singlehandedly put us back in the match against North in the 2014 Semi Final. One of the most dominant 10 mins I've ever seen from a player, and it's no coincidence that happened when we were already 34 points down with 10 mins to go and played like we had nothing to lose.
The...
Friday night games always get fewer than normal Cats fans, Geelong based fans often won't get home till after midnight so it's pretty difficult if you have young kids, are elderly etc.
Not to mention it's difficult to travel in peak hour after work from Geelong to Melbourne (and vice versa...
Geelong have enough for a thread by ourselves...
The Nick Davis final
WCE comeback from 9 goals down
The 157 game against Richmond in 2007
2007 GF
Losing by 96 to Collingwood in 2008
2008 GF

Losing to Sydney in Geelong in 2011, our first loss there in 4 years
Beating the Pies the following...
I like McCarthy, but in 29 matches he only kicked 3 goals or more twice for us (Rohan has already managed that 3 times in 6 matches) and Rohan right now is offering us so much more than Linc ever did.
Linc is good but Rohan applies pressure better, is a stronger mark and is kicking more goals.
It's similar to Hawthorn's record in Tasmania - local knowledge about the ground, tending to play weaker or interstate teams, 95% crowd support (would be less for Hawthorn but would still be the vast majority), the fact the home team has continually been good for well over a decade and a fear...
Eh I'd say it's just a continuation of the growth in basketball, from when I finished up (2012) most clubs seem to have grown ~30-50% in size and in the decade or so I played it was a similar amount of growth. Most of the big clubs/associations in Melbourne have had 5+ court facilities for a...
Bolton would see out the entire season but could be sacked at the end should Carlton end up with a low amount of wins and another spoon.
There are several clubs would would be much quicker to pull the trigger and sack their coach midseason. North, Essendon, Adelaide, Port and St Kilda all come...
Good false equivalence. That's like suggesting that if it's not ok for a club to support white supremacy then it's just as wrong for a club to support anti-racism.
This, this, a million times this.
The skill level difference between Selwood and Dangerfield v the rest of the team is matched by the leadership drop off.
At our peak someone like Scarlett or Chapman would rip off a player's head if they saw them going at less than 100%. Across the field we...
