Because its been that way since 1858, literally the third ever rule ever written in the original codification of Aussie rules by Wills and the Melbourne Football Club itself.
Obviously just because a rule has been there forever doesn't mean it needs to stay (I mean look at some of these other...
Yep. Goes right through to even recent areas they've addressed like concussions. Just covering their asses 10-20 years from now for the $100M of damages/fees of future litigation, ironically some of the only future planning they seem to be handy with.
Couldn't trust them to run a chook raffle. I mean the people that control the SPORT as it exists, not the league but the entire identity of Australian rules football are situated in the same building as the league - the CEO of which who stands the most to gain from manipulating the game for $$$...
I think the issue is that since the dissolution of the ANFC the AFL effectively are the custodian of the sport whether we like it or not. They control the rules and change them on a whim to suit $$$ and broadcasting deals.
Re-establishing an independent Aussie Rules Commission (and Umpiring...
If this is the case, I think many are brushing by the unethical conduct of a doctor providing false diagnoses to the club (that is if the club doesn't outright outline this to the Dr already). Would like to think integrity begins there and we'd be seeing decent turnover of club doctors who won't...
Well not too hard to acknowledge with the league being 10/18 Victorian teams. A fixturing system always has to have some compromises to fairness (eg. Coll play Hawks away at MCG which is their own home ground, but if we play at another ground then the Hawks lose their advantage). While...
I can see it going both ways, harder to win after a bye but also an extra chance for the team to rest their legs and recover some injuries? Fixture is already compromised enough with double-ups and spread of Home vs away games
Also this!!! I didn't realise it was going to be so cooked
You're one of the lucky ones for that and good on you. But for the vast majority of younger footy followers (and that number grows with the passage of time), Carlton are completely irrelevant. You can only go off by what you know obviously with the older average age of this site - I'm in my 20s...
Weather app says it was 36°C but significantly less humid than it was yesterday at 31°C.
Sure Matildas would've taken a few but it was completely barren. For free entry too would've thought the faithful would tough it out.
Fair is fair though we drew Richmond there while you had to contend...
Funniest reply I've ever heard on bigfooty 🤣 as good as the banter gets it seems from the loyal baggers still dutifully manning this thread.
Now outline why there's more punters at the local dive bar on a Wed night than at that home ground you were creaming over to me no more than a page ago
We brought 10K at your own home ground on a Tuesday night for $10 a pop. Tight times for the baggers doing it tough can't fork out $0 to watch the team they have such high hopes for 🤣
Just really shows how many fans vs supporters each side has
Maybe you lads should focus on getting more than 100 people to a praccy match in your own backyard.
The Blues aren't even the biggest club in Carlton 😂
Certainly the outs were decent, but at the time I was concerned we'd learnt nothing from the last game against them. Cameron was completely unaccounted for all night and the amount of out the back goals was just hair-pulling stuff. Still don't think we exactly nailed that down enough in the GF...
Comparing their record recently at Marvel (post-Neale trade we'll say 2019 onwards being the start of the current Lions) it's certainly interesting how much it inverses with the MCG record.
They should certainly advocate to play at the MCG whenever playing MCG-tenants in Melbourne with the...
