Sorry to bump an old thread, but I read this morning that the two clubs only donate $10k from their gate takings today. Surely that can't be the case... can anyone confirm?
Would certainly hope last night's match donated a large portion of takings as well.
I don't really like the sport, but I'd argue that hockey is just as national. Seems most states are in the national league aren't they?

Actually hasn't got anything to do with it as far as I'm aware. The designer said it symbolises the Derwent River as that used to be what you'd see from the hill on the opposite side looking out towards the Stuart Spencer Stand before that was knocked down by the new Western Stand.
You make some good points, but at the same time, it would be great for Tassie to have just one team for the whole state rather than having this north-south divide that is preventing it. I'm sure you wouldn't want Hawthorn to move here, and I'm sure you don't want North taking those 4 games off...
How about we just leave it to Allies v Vics v SA v WA like a decade ago. Was a simple and effective format when they rotated the opposition each year over 3 years.
