Blade Runner 2049 is better in my opinion based on the amount of times I have re-watched it. The original movie was good but boring in parts, where 49 kept me enthralled end to end.
Watched the Dune Part 2 but just the 3rd act after Paul takes the water of life. Geez that act goes too quickly.
Really wished they could have extended the final scene in the hall with Paul, Gaius Mohiam & The Emperor interacting more to pay-off the revenge plot.
Paul's battle with Feyd...
But at least with Silo, they explain the back story fairly early so you have an idea on whats going on within their world. Here with Fallout, I am introduced to all these characters & world with no understanding of their purpose or reasoning. This needed to be reasonably established within...
2 episodes in and I have no idea what's going on. Might give it one more episode before shelving it. Silo seems to be a superior alternative to this show.
The Abyss (1989) has finally been released in HD/4K formats.
Dune 2 (2024) is regarded as the best sci/fi movie in the last 10 years.
The Creator (2023) I haven't seen yet but seems to have fairly positive reviews.
Otherwise, pick & choose from the following...
I thought Dune P2 had some decent monologues in it however based on the book, most of the dialogue is within the characters head. Not sure if David Lynch's concept of voice over still faces would have work this time around.
It is niche and it shouldn't be a franchise but hopefully the TV series is going to be good. The premise is promising.
Dune Messiah confirmation helps to round off Paul's story, then good luck to anyone who wants to adapt the rest of the books.
Many people at the theater when you saw it? It must be nearing the end of its cinema run soon?
Went to the exIMAX for the first time a few weeks ago as I never been there before and yeah it was a pretty good experience. I am not sure how that stacks up to the latest IMAX theaters around...
I'm obsessed with this universe. 3rd time watching this movie and I never lost concentration throughout the full length.
Other movies, I barely last 5 minutes before getting distracted.
Dune Part 1 made over $30 Million (in US) just on its re-release in cinemas prior to Part 2. Pretty good considering Dune Part 2 made $80 Million (in US) on its opening weekend.
I think his saving grace is the Fremen Jihad which he can embellish in action sequences. Frank Herbert never really wrote much in the way of action scenes in his books, so DV will have free reign to interpret that part of the story in his own way.
I personally didn't mind this but the film critics really smashed those 2 points. It still got flack on even the most recent YouTube reviewers. For some reason, this style of exposition and story telling is frowned upon in the film industry.
The only issue is marketing as there are no happy endings in the Dune series and it will still feel unresolved as it jumps straight into Children of Dune.
There was meant to be a seventh book but unfortunately Frank died before he had a chance to write or complete it. It was meant to resolve the cliffhanger left over by Chapterhouse Dune. Not sure where this book would have ended up as the story became a weird mess after God Emperor but it was...
