I don't think anyone is paying Zurhaar band 1 money unless he has a truly ridiculous season. Regardless, there will come a point (probably now) where North need to keep their good players with experience.
You guys are about to draft someone similar in Harley Reid. A player who can play to an above average/elite level in all three areas of the ground. Enjoy.
Schools don't list everyone that went to there school for obvious reasons. You just need to watch the draft. The uneducated eye would think Ryley Sanders was Victorian if North hadn't been trying to arrange priority access to him.
The father son argument is that he would have played footy...
Is NSW not split into two catchment areas or zones for Sydney and GWS's academies?
Jacob Hopper moved state to a Victorian Private School in Ballarat.
Because two kids of father sons living in NSW didn't make it, your academies work and can pinch father sons? That's your point right?
My...
So you are moving your argument from NSW as a whole to Sydney.
Jacob Hopper. Melbourne private schools take players from all over the country on scholarships. Where do you think Ryley Sanders is playing his footy despite being Tasmanian.
BTW there have been plenty of father sons based in...
My argument is specific to father sons. I am pro northern academies I just don't think there should be a discount. Academies are needed to develop players with NON-AFL backgrounds. Sons of AFL legends are probably aware of the sport.
So Charlie Spargo doesn't count because it doesn't suit your narrative on father sons and you want to move the goal posts.

You are just showing that you don't really know much at all about this...
It's not disingenuous at all. Loads of NSW kids, QLD kids, NT kids and Tasmanians move to Melbourne to play school footy. Most of them are in academy zones.
Was Charlie Spargo developed in an academy?
Kids leave academy zones to play footy in Melbourne schools all the time. Nick Blakey would have a pathway with or without Sydneys academy. Just because a few father son eligible players didn't make it doesn't mean NSW based father son eligible players wouldn't make it without an academy.
Now that live trading is a thing, what is to stop clubs with academies drafting their academy players by actually trading with the club for the specific pick. As an example, Sydney could have traded with Hawthorn for pick 4 and selected Braeden Campbell themselves. Points and matching is...
Tsatas is an inconsistent kick rather than what you are asserting. He had games where he couldn't hit a target but others where he tore the game apart with elite kicking to go with strong accumulation. His negatives are defensive positioning, defensive work rate and an unwillingness to even...
For North - Some of the below were taken ahead of our pick but these are the players I wanted at the start of the draft at our first pick
2007 - Cyril and then Tarrant (Cyril taken a few picks ahead of our pick)
2008 - Steele Sidebottom (Thought he'd be a forward though)
2009 - Cunners
2010 -...
Yeah you are probably right. Below is the trade our clubs did last year. A similar trade this year would suit North. Pick a player at circa 32 and use circa 53 on Cooper Harvey if he attracts a bid. Otherwise we will probably look to trade into next years draft.
North have picks 40 and 43. Due to lack of list spots we will be packaging them up and trying to move up the order. Thinking a pick in the mid to late 20's will be targeted.
Doubt Horne-Francis gets traded unless Port sacrifice something they don't want to. Including other parties in this potential trade isn't actually improving the return to North.
It's only natural for you to be sceptical given what has happened over the last 5 years.
The vic country strategy is smart. Country kids are less coddled and more independent than city kids.
I also like that you've been drafting more queenslanders.
I meant that the Lions were doing well to turn around the kulcha and were blooding kids and kids have stopped leaving. You obviously backed your culture in selecting a bunch of victorians and overlooking Ainsworth in the draft.
Generally, players won't leave if you have a good culture or are...
if that's all you talk about then sure.
It doesn't matter that O'rourke was pick 2 when you went to trade him. If Essendon lost Hird to FA would they be saying oh s**t, we lost pick 70 odd.
is it victoria's fault that sa, wa and tassie have had a few lean years?
If the go home factor is so incredibly significant, why do GWS and Brisbane continue to draft victorians with their high draft picks?
Surely you should exclusively invest in local talent if all these kids are going to...
