    Brad Crouch vs Ollie Wines

Liked mainly for your sig, but your comment is good, too.

I Bet My Left Nut That... (2017 Edition)

Yes but according to trading rules you may then not trade any further nuts from that year.

    2016 Draft Rumours

There's not much to disagree on. It's a known fact that it's happened before, and the AFL has done nothing. They'll try and maintain the validity of the draft as much as possible but they're not going to exclude talented individuals from the draft pool any more than they put a stop to all the...

    2016 Draft Rumours

This "narrowing down the list of players of who they want" is all bluster except in the case of Essendon who get to pick anyone they want. If some clubs pick unexpected players then the whole draft changes for the remaining clubs.

    2016 Draft Rumours

Wingard basically told GWS he was only interested in playing in SA. Kavanagh and his dad telling all clubs he'd only go to Essendon. It happens a bit, not much the AFL can do about it really.

    Is Twomey's Phantom out yet?

As I mentioned in my post, that was a draft rankings not a phantom draft.

    Is Twomey's Phantom out yet?

This is what irks me a little. They should have a punt 3 or 4 weeks in advance of an actual phantom draft, i.e. not a draft rankings. Then if they nail that, or even get it reasonably accurate I'll be quite impressed. Waiting a day before the draft just lets them ask all the clubs for the...

Opinion The "What's X/Y Player worth" thread

Even "just ok" rucks can go for late second rounders so I'd imagine you'd get something in the 20s, maybe even late teens for Hickey. I'd imagine Saints would be more interested in keeping Hickey, though.

One is the loneliest number – Supermercado reviews draft night

"Fortunately this idea was soon shelved in favour of having each of the top 10 draftees shaking hands and posing for pictures with the man who will be their senior coach for at least half of 2016." Outstanding.

Harley Balics parents attempt to bribe him to stay

AFAIK they can reject it as they haven't signed a contract yet. However their nomination in the ND stays for 3 years, and since it has already been used (by getting drafted) they would have to wait 3 years until another club could look at picking them up.

2015 Draft, Trades and Free Agency rumours.

Even though Port have benefitted from this before, I have to agree it is quite ridiculous.

2015 Draft, Trades and Free Agency rumours.

Salary wise you'd just need to give him a long term deal and heavily backend it so the high pay coincides with the retirements of Hodge/Mitchell/Burgoyne etc. in a year or two.

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Well it's not feasible or worth debate because we won't pay it. I'm saying that the trade might not happen because what I suggested would probably be what Port offer, and GC are going to want more than 29 and a fringe player. Additionally, Young is far from junk or has-been. He's in a similar...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Not so sure about the needs last year. We had Reddo and Lobbe who were still borderline on whether they could make it, but had Boak, Ebert, Hartlett, Gray, and Broady for the engine room. Champion data had our midfield ranked 8th in the comp at the end of last year not including rucks, but our...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Sure, it's not a terrible deal, I'm highlighting that a) Port won't trade their first round (unless exceptional circumstances), and b) I think Gorringe' lack of results has seen a reasonable drop in his trade value. As is, Gorringe won't be an upgrade on Lobbe, and even Redden is showing more...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

I agree, and this is kind of my point too. There will be one stand out tall in most drafts that will go as a first round ruck that someone will take a punt on, but you only need to look at the likes of Jolly, Hudson, Bellchambers, Sandilands, Griffin, Giles, Jamar, Cox, and Mumford as some of...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Look, sorry if I offended you Mrs. Gorringe, I'm sure your son will be the next Polly Farmer/Dean Cox. Maric went for pick 37, Renouf for pick 33. Josh Jenkins, a similar athletic tall who could play forward/ruck went for a swap of 31 and 41. Sam Jacobs, 34. These guys had all shown that they...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Probably a late first rounder now, and that's on the back of averaging 33.5 HOs, 11 possessions, and 6.5 tackles over the last 6 games. If Gorringe hasn't shown close to that yet, why would he be worth more?
  20. Chrizzt

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Just because he was considered the best ruck of his year, doesn't mean he's worth a pick 9-11 now, especially after he's not shown that promise yet. How can you not get this concept? Would you still pay pick 4 for Tambling? Just because he was (rightfully) touted as the best ruck in his year...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

I get it, you're not overly bright, but try and keep up here champ. Why would we pay such a high pick on such a speculative player? He hasn't shown in his performances that he's going to make. Now this isn't such a bad thing, as even someone like yourself can point out, rucks take a while to...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

How was that stupid? The difference is nobody was saying that Lobbe was worth pick 9-11 after 3 years and 13 games of showing only glimpses. Sure Lobbe seems to be coming good now, but ask most Port posters end of last year, or even start of this year, and most of us would have written him off...
  23. Chrizzt

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Won't happen. We don't trade our first pick, and even if we were inclined, we'd probably be paying a little over in that deal. The guy's not in your best 22, and as is won't be in our best 22, why would we effectively rule ourselves out of the first round of the draft for that? I'm not saying he...

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Third round is a bit nothing, and I'm not sure GC would have a huge interest in Mackay. Deal might come close though.
  25. Chrizzt

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Stewart will be gone end of year, and Renouf is really only going to be used as backup in case Lobbe and Reddo go down. Westy is playing some great footy floating around the ground too, so having a ruck that can genuinely go down forward frees Westy up to do his thing.
  26. Chrizzt

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Unless Hinkley thinks he's only a pre-season away from becoming the next Dean Cox, Port (namely Peter Rohde, Footy Ops manager) won't be trading our first pick.
  27. Chrizzt

Gorringe, Nicholls and Smith; Who's interested and what are they worth?

Rucci thinks that Gorringe to Port is a done deal, but I can't see that unless there is some inside information on Gorringe really wanting to come home. GC will want a decent amount for him, and Port simply won't offer a first round pick, while some other clubs more desperate for a ruck might.

    Brad Crouch vs Ollie Wines

Crouch should have this RS nomination in the bag, probably unlucky to miss out round 4, which will give more incentive for him to get this one. Obviously a Wines fan, but look forward to seeing Crouch's career pan out too.
