No one with a functioning brain would even consider swapping 2 and 6 for pick 1, if someone offered that you'd have to ask where they got the picks from, and demand a receipt.
IMO you give up a future first every day of the week for a talent like that, and thrice on Sundays, we were in a similar situation with Beams, when you have the chance you just get it done.
I personally wouldn't have accepted what you offered, considering he's contracted on low coin for another...
WC losers, tried to lowball/bluff the Cats and got called.
Cats winners, get to keep Kelly for an extra year on low coin, won't lose any trade value next year.
Not trying to discredit him at all, but using stats and efficiency for a HB is pretty pointless, his stats would've been impressive 15 years ago but every HB worth their salt cracks up 20+ with a high DE% now days, some HBs have had 25+ disposal games at 100%DE this year.
They are hyping him up for a reason, he's on track for a 40 goal season, i watched him one game (opponant escapes me) and i reckon he could've kicked 9, was on the losing side of a 2 player raffle 3-4 times that day and kicked a bag himself, not many kids have done what he's done in their debut...
Wasn't drafted with elite kicking skills? News to me, was one of his strengths iirc, some had him going no1 if it wasn't for his health issue, and a player like him wouldn't be considered as a no1 pick with ball winning and kicking issues lol.
Stephenson was drafted as a mid with elite kicking skills and pace, so he can play around the ball, we'll never know if he can play back because you don't send players like him back, but i'm sure he could handle it lol.
Witherden would more than likely find himself out of his depth is he played Stephensons role, Stephenson could play Witherdens role with his eyes closed, that's the difference.
Those who can play forward play forward, those who can't play back.
Well until i see Witberden consistently slot set shots from outside 50 yes, don't be fooled into thinking a defender is a good kick because he hits long range targets.
James Clement was probably better than Fletcher at hitting long range targets, get him infront of goal and he couldn't hit s**t...
