Gives the 2 QLD clubs cheap hits at untouchables.
Then when they dont have any clear options shining through the AFL can make their changes.
Just ditch the discount on matching immediately. Then the following year no matching in the first round, and no compo picks in the first round.
18 kids...
You think they said "give us 7 years x $1m or we go to Tassie" and the Pies freaked out?
Incompetence on the part of list managers is far more believable - simply because there is so much evidence.
2nd year player already contracted to 2026. No.
I would wait and see.
Collingwood were even more ridiculous. Where would the Daicos brothers have gone ?
Just ridiculous. In 3 or 4 years clubs will be begging the AFL for assistance because of the ludicrous contracts they are choosing to have with players.
He only got 18 weeks not a full season. So it will be interesting to see.
The AFLPA would have been involved so he may well get full pay but the Roos dont have to include it.
Yep. It doesnt say "different" in the title. And if you look through the discussions there are questions around whether it counts if you were a Rookie or full list player but never played a game.
So maybe there are some intricacies in it. But its great to have you onboard keeping an eye on things.
We have no idea what picks GCS will use to get their 3 players expected to all go inthe top 12 or 13.
So its a complete guess how far picks will move out.
Also, picks in the 30s will likely move up a HEAP.
Every single club wanted that deal. 17 teams would have jumped at it.
But that doesnt change the fact that the Suns should have been penalised for gross incompetence and the salary dump should have been the contract.
The AFL also said they would only sign off on a 2nd round pick going back but...
Bit of a necro but we are nearing the end of 2023.
Pies getting Mitchell was a big win.
Demons getting Grundy also a big win for the Pies. Big loss for Demons.
Bobby Hill was a bit of an unknown at the time but is playing seriously good football at the right time of year.
McStay Ive never been...
Mitchell the only real loss in that list, and Longmire had him in the NEAFL half the time and told him to take a pay cut because he wasnt in the core midfield group.
Papley was going to leave but wisely stayed when the side deal fell through.
You "lost" Hannebery? You got rid of him and laughed yourselves senseless.
We got Breust but only because you lot didnt want him. Smith was an older recruit too, also not wanted by the Swans.
Also overlooked Tex Walker. And Lenny Hayes. And Billy Brownless. And Matt Suckling.
Im sure heaps...
Does anyone want to keep the discounting part of matching bids? Seems like a no-brainer to get rid of that if we are to keep F/S and NGA and Academies and all the other things.
The other option is no matching on 1st round picks. Work hard to get the kid in 2 years.
Which is the other thing...
Averaging 8 a game... took Daicos 8 games to get to 40.
Sheezel is well ahead after 5 games than where Daicos was. And Daicos had already won the Rising Star at that stage.
Sheezel doing more in a terrible team than Ashcroft in a good team. So far is also well ahead of where Daicos was when in an even better team.
Roos need to sign him up long term now because everyone will be after him.
