If eagles were going to cash in on one of their talls, what would they get for:
Brown
Sinclair
Darling
Schofield
I'm assuming McKenzie, Naitanui, Lycett, Kennedy and McGovern would be the talls off the table.
SEN reported earlier today that Shuey considering a move home to Vic, Dees & Pies have already expressed interest.
Would pick 2 be on the table for Shuey?
As a supporter, it irritates me. WCE put work into Ebert, putting faith in a player with clear deficiencies (pace, kicking) because in the long term they knew it would pay off. Now that he's ready to pay off, he ups and leaves. Worst part is, he has nominated a bottom of the ladder club, meaning...
Re: Daniel Rich
I believe GWS can sign the player and immediately ontrade him to another team. Similar to GC with Krakouer to Collingwood.
Meaning that the eagles may very well trade with GWS to get the services of Rich. Eagles have in the past been very fair at the trade table, so I...
A lot of players would drop out of the system and never have a chance at AFL footy. Teenagers wouldn't bust their gut (ala TAC) because they aren't going to be drafted until 21, and the 18-21 year olds could be side tracked by study, work, apprenticeships/traineeships and the inevitable time...
Would have liked to see Kerr go to the Saints because a) we'd see him in full flight again b) Lyon is good at bringing the best out of players who are seemingly past it and c) would be good to see St Kilda win their 2nd flag.
You're right, WC missed the boat on trading Kerr by 2 years. At 25 and on the back of a few fantastic seasons, we could have demanded the world for him. Instead, we lost Judd (traitor), Cousins (drugs) and Kerr (injury) for near peanuts. At least Kennedy is qualty, otherwise it'd have been a...
I've suggested this idea in many threads discussing such topics. I think its a fantastic idea as it encourages clubs to invest $$ into their zones. And by capping it at 1 player per year per zone, you're ensuring clubs can't pillage the talent pool before the actual draft.
Yes it would be...
Since when are signed players off the market?
Betts won't be traded, but Yarran and Garlett would have to be on the table for the right trade?
That said, apart from pick 4, not much else the Blues would want from our list. M.Brown to fill a key defender post? Maybe McKenzie?
Another obvious target is Carlton. With Betts, Yarran and Garlett all first 18 players, it makes the small forward position in the Carlton side a bit crowded. Incidently an area eagles are struggling with. With a few holes appearing in the Blues side, they may be willing to trade on of those...
You sure? I thought it was less than 5 wins. So 4 wins + draw still qualifies for priority pick?
AFAIK, no pre-rd1 priority picks this year. But there are priorities before the 2nd rd. WCE aren't eligible for a rd1 priority anyway, so if they qualify for a priority they'll get pick #26...
He'd have to be worth at least a top 10 pick, wouldn't he?
Best bet would be to trade him to GC for pick 5/7/9. They have so many first round picks that they'd be able to give up a first rounder without any adverse effects. Eagles grabbing a pick >10 would be of no benefit to our already...
Typical Carlton.
If they're not cheating they're lying their arses off and trying to rip other clubs off at the trade table.
At this rate there won't be too many clubs willing to trade with the Blues.
I don't think draft picks are overrated. High draft picks in particular can be underrated.
You wouldn't trade pick 1 for Gibbs because you know what you're getting, and Gibbs isn't quite on the superstar level of a Judd, Ablett, Franklin, etc. By having pick 1 you're holding out hope that the...
I don't think the concept is as bad as everyone makes it out.
The suspense will still be there. As an example, when they get to the eagles #6 pick there will still be Scully, Trengove, Morabito, Lucas and Butcher available. As an eagles supporter it has you wondering if we are lucky enough to...
McKinley for Yarran, straight swap.
Both want to go home, one has shown he can play at the top level but will never be a star, the other was an early pick but is unproven and has huge question marks over his attitude.
I've previouslysuggested bringing back zoning to reduce the value of early draft picks.
If every team reserved the right to pick up one player from their zones outside of the draft, it effectively makes the #1 pick only the 17th strongest in the draft (assuming the top 16 players are taken via...
lol @ this thread.
The whole trade week was a non-event, particularly considering some of the names that were thrown out as possibly being traded (Kerr, Seaby, McIntosh, ROK, Lovett, etc).
Get rid of trade week & just have a trade day where all trades are lodged. Let clubs sort out trades...
