As an outsider looking in I'd say the reason is pretty simple. He's playing for the next 2 years, not the next 10 for obvious reasons. After getting Jolly and Ball it's pretty clear he thinks mature bodies bode well for a shot at a flag, hence playing Brown instead of the kids.
