As much as I'd like to agree, Petracca and Heeney were pretty comparable before this season. Heeney's highs were better but that wasn't the norm. Petracca exploding means that right now he wins. Hopefully when Heeney gets back he takes a leaf from his book.
Still hard to look past Melbourne 2013. Carlton this year at least have had games that they could defend. Brisbane 2016 had a pretty good offence even if they leaked points on the regular. And it feels harsh to pick on early GC/GWS as half their side (and often more) were rookies.
If you were...
Don't see folding or mergers happening again, would piss off too many potential fans.
The only move I could see happening is that if North's form was to tank for multiple seasons, they end up moving to Tassie (which is relocation rather than folding/merging). I think they're aware of this too...
I guess what he's trying to say is that you don't generally see a side with a shaky defence and strong offence doing well, but you do see sides with a middling offence and a strong defence do well.
Balance o/c is the key factor. And it's fair to say that a good defence is a key factor to doing...
If we're talking peaks it's closer, but assuming we're comparing the time they've spent at the club (and they haven't even played together yet) VBA wins it. I'd take JCK over them too.
Meh in early 2010 this wasn't a bad debate, Dangerfield was still only 'promising' and Palmer could live off his Rising Star award for a while. Dyson/Judd was always pretty WTF.
I can see the argument for him up forward given Carlton's respective depth in the positions, but he's clearly a better defender and that's where he should be playing - in his best position.
I'd say this is as close to a win/win as possible. Melbourne needed more depth at the time, GWS just needed a truly elite Best 22.
Forced to call....ask me in six months. If Salem's still having fitness issues, then GWS. If he gets over it and comes good, I'd lean towards Melbourne.
Sandi, Jacobs, Mumford, Lobbe, Goldstein.
Top 3 a long way ahead of the rest. Would expect Martin to replace Goldstein by the end of the season, but unfortunately he hasn't played enough.
I think Lids has had the better career, but Gibbs looks to finally be getting close to his potential. Also think he was wasted on defensive/tagging roles for a few years.
The opposition is the enemy :p
On a serious note, I'd like to see GWS succeed to expand footy in my city, and I feel sorry for Melbourne after so many years of s**t.
