Very different players.
I'd prefer both.
For example if you looked at replacing a player in Hawthorn's line up, you would replace Roughead with Jack. You would replace Buddy with Riewoldt. ( Not suggesting that I would or that Riewoldt is better so dont go crazy hawks ).
Hmmm on a prick ratio, I'd rate him similar to Luke Ball, for jumping clubs at short notice. Mind you most of the time Luke Ball is not a prick at all.
I'm a bit worried about the Xbox addiction though, it could be serious, and perhaps a stint of Xbox rehab in California is called for. Maybe...
Maybe , and how is Xavier going. At least the two of them seem to be decent blokes off field.
As far as bad trades go, Didn't Carlton make some payments to crusty old players, in exchange for some priority draft picks?
Maybe. But it depends on what happens in the future.
Like I wrote earlier, Fergus Watts was traded for pick 17, 2005 draft.
Fergus Watts = zip in 2009. Draft pick 17 2005 = zip in 2009.
Saints have made good use of the Rookie draft over the last few years, and frankly I see more potential...
It was also Andrew Lovett in, if you are talking about the actual trade. It was only later that it went pear Shaped.
Pick 60 = Jesse Smith. I'd say the risk of Jesse Smith playing good footy again would be no worse than that of Xavier Clarke. Mind you Xavier did manage to string together 11...
Disaster is a bit strong.
Luke Ball was in 17 of the 22 games last year, so he was best 22, but not by a huge amount. Along with the failure to be able to play Lovett, the Saints may be lacking the icing, but they still have the cake.
It is probably less of a disaster than Carlton's main goal...
This trade may not be any worse than the 2005 draft, when Saints swapped pick 17 for Fergus Watts. In that case most of the picks taken around that level are yet to amount to anything anyway. The future will reveal what the Saints have given up this year.
This Poll proves that the majority of Bigfooty posters would make poor coaches.
They would let their personal feelings dictate their decisions and thus choose an inferior player.
