Seriously, if you are looking for an exact literal adaption of the books then surely by now you've worked out that this isn't even attempting to do that, so therefore you probably need to either just enjoy the show for what it is or give the whole thing a miss.
Wouldn't everyone be aware that the episodes land on a Friday and thus avoid the thread until they've watched it? If not, perhaps make a note in the thread title. I mean, if you come in here and don't want to see spoilers you're just going to be scrolling past one spoiler tag after another anyway.
And I guess it makes sense for them to do that, as it's a TV show with limited episodes per season and thus limited time to flesh out those sorts of details. This is an adaption, not a literal retelling of every aspect of the books. I have no issues with them changing the rules and/or...
If reading the books so long ago means I've forgotten a lot of the details and thus am able to enjoy the TV show purely on its own merits, then I'm thankful.
I'm enjoying this so far, but then it was a nearly a decade ago that I read the books so I've forgotten enough of the story to not be bothered by or even really notice most of the changes to the TV show.
I started Wheel Of Time in 2011 when there was still the last book to be written, and it was released in 2013 just as I got to it. How's that for living on the edge?
I started WOT in late 2011and basically spent all of 2012 reading it, and got up to the last book just as it was released, I didn't even know the last book hadn't been released when I started reading the series, let alone planned for that outcome. I still have this website bookmarked, it was my...
My point is that the source material is all there for WoT, so the show shouldn't go flying off the rails like GoT did. Just trying to assuage a few fears, that's all. I'm confident that they will do the story justice.
When I read the books I used http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/ as a resource, it was pretty useful for getting the pronunciations locked down right from the beginning.
I've started a re-read of the novels, the last time I read them was just before the show started. This time I'm taking my time, whereas last time I kinda rushed through due to wanting to see where the story went. This time, for example, I'm paying more attention to the likes of Wyman Manderly...
I'm ploughing through The Better Angels Of Our Nature - Why Violence Has Declined by Steven Pinker. Am enjoying it, but the problem is that it's a library book and I don't like my chances of finishing it before I have to take it back.
Just finished Tyler Hamilton's book The Secret Race about PED use amongst professional cyclists. Fascinating stuff, it was. Ferrari the uber-doping doctor used to get his clients to weigh their food. Where else have I heard that recently?
I don't know whether people are convinced they are innocent, it's more that they are convinced that they were imprisoned unjustly, ie without a fair trial, and as such may have spent nearly two decades locked up as child killers despite being innocent. Is there an SRP thread on this?
