99 point loss to Port Adelaide

$7 million in debt

no talent on the field and wooden spooners again in '06

the coach just milking the club

Is the end near for the once Mighty Blues?! Or will they be the club re-located to Nth Qld in 3 years?

Round 18, 2005. Carlton 22.9.141 defeated Richmond 16.10.106. Fancy getting beaten by a team with no talent, particularly when Richmond were still a chance to make the 8. What is the term you use for a team that is worse than one with no talent?

hmmmm, was it round 5 or 6, when we were at full strength , what was the score then, at the mcg.
rnd 18, we were playing on a ground we dont play well at, with a tam that was crippled with injuries, and we lost richo early in the game.
but thats all history

in the here and now

the blues are well and truly **********ed

no leadership, no direction, no money, overrated coach, worst list in the afl

goodnight the blues, love to watch you suffer!

Carlton are obviously going through a bad period. All of their own making but no doubt hard for a proud club to swallow. It will last a while longer. By many other teams historical standards it will end up being relatively short lived. If nothing else the draft and salary cap will see to that. They are underwritten so they can't fold. If they were about to go to the wall the AFL would unconditionally bail them out. They have too many supporters and too many wealthy members in any case. A couple of years at the bottom will see their playing stocks rise. That’s the way it is supposed to work. Reward regardless of merit. It is far from the end for Carlton. They will wallow for a time yet though. Still plenty of time for payback for those so inclined.

In a word

NO.

Carlton are really struggling and have done so for 5 years, and will probably do so for another two to three, but the AFl will not let them die either will the Carlton faithful.

Carlton are crap ATM. They wont always be though.
same can't be said for a great portion of their supporters :p

Shut your hole and stop making excuses. Carlton wont flop you morons. You actually think the AFL would the blues die out. Your idiots. Carton will be back, remember ST.Kilda spent a good 3 - 4 years down the bottom.

At least you have something to keep you going. Just keep ignoring rd 7. It really didnt happen did it. You have plenty to look forward to this year if the weekend was an indication. You president and CEO looked like they were presenting a eulogy on the tv.

Actually, St Kilda have spent 26 years on the bottom (1/4 of their existence).

But that was then, this is now.;)

Carry on.

if teh blues keep up their trend, withing 10 yrs they will be relocated or merged. end of story! st kilda were lucky their debts were not as massive. the blues debt is more than 7mill, more like 11

I'd rather spend a couple of years on the bottom, and come back stronger, rather than sit around doing nothing for 20 years.

Which other club was $7m in debt?

They are underwritten so they can't fold.

The AFL can pull the plug any time they like. Has the AFL legally guaranteed all of Carltons debt?

If they were about to go to the wall the AFL would unconditionally bail them out.

Why has the AFL suddenly changed tack with Vlad talking about relocations? Do you really think its credible for a national comp to have 4 or more teams in one state on massive welfare payments?

They have too many supporters and too many wealthy members in any case. A couple of years at the bottom will see their playing stocks rise. That’s the way it is supposed to work.

The draft may work but you still have to pay a certain % of the cap.

the bombers are going no where but down over the next ten years. look at your list, aging and overrated!

10 years? A team could win a flag a spoon and another flag in 10 years. 10 years is 10 drafts.

It would be a shame to lose any Victorian club. When Richmond, Bulldogs etc had to go to the tin rattle to save the clubs the money they needed to generate was not as big as what would be needed in this day and current financial format of the AFL.

I feel unfortainly in this day and age a tin rattle may not be enough. We all know haw loyal the Blue Baggers supporters are and they would do what they could to stop it, but would it be enough?

Hopefully the Carlton Board can do something so it does not come to that. The AFL would not want to lose a team like Carlton but in the same sense can not come out and say well it's not ok for Carlton to fold but is for Kangaroos, Hawks, Bulldogs etc.
