The investigation also identified a person who telephoned Triple M radio as “Jonathan for Brighton” at 6.13pm on Saturday 20 August 2005. Jonathan for Brighton was a false name and this person was in fact an employee of the Channel 9 Network and also worked for Triple M radio. He had attended the game at Skilled Stadium, Geelong that day as part of his duties. Whilst at the game he learned that Tony Jones who was attending the game as a spectator, had indicated that he was going to run with the umpire story on the news that night.
What kind of corrupt little individual rings up a radio station and lies about hearing an umpire fix a match?
He should be publicly named. He should be sued by the umpire. He should be sacked by Ch9.
This guy needs to be asked if anyone at CH9 asked him to make the call.
Does it suprise anyone that ChEddie would resort to this dodgy style journalism? Their childish vendetta against the umpires has been building all year and now this. Absolutely discusting.
Yet another reason why the entire football community will be better off when ch9 leave the footy to the professionals. bring on 2007
