You can clean up tomorrow but you'll get pretty wet

I think from ch 7s perspective was once the cyclone passes through certain areas, those that can deal with fallen trees can start the removal of them.

While ch 9s point of view was that the whole threat isn't over until the rain event (after the cyclone, which will last for days) stops entirely.

Meanwhile I'm in contact with friends and family that can't believe everything has shut down. I said that it's like COVID but replace pandemic reasons with natural disaster. It's an inconvenience - but common sense as everyone had plenty of warning to get the supplies they would need (be it food, sandbags, xyz things that would assist in the preparation) and workers also need time to get their stuff in order too.

One other thing I had noticed in my QLD stay this year, more homeless people bobbing around (especially Cavil Ave) than I saw in 2024. I feel bad, but it's not like I can shelter everyone.

It's not as windy right now as it was 1-3 hours ago (it's windy but not loud, just breezy). I read about this yesterday, during the cyclone event there will be periods where you'll think it's over.. but it'll get ferocious again. In fact the wind is kicking up again as I type. So there was a 15ish minute period of "calmness".

Which brings me to not knowing how long the actual cyclone passing through will take. I've read it might be as fast as 3 hours - 12 hours. Interesting to see how long it ends up being.

Whenever I have a quotation mark moment in real life I always do the Dr Evil quotation mark mannerism :p

The cyclone is making landfall just about now as a category one storm having weakened in the last few hours and earlier in the day (Friday AEST). The high wind shear has finally started to take its toll.

Still, the cyclone has done pretty well to make it this far, considering the environment has been marginal or unfavourable for the past few days and stuck in a weak steering environment.

Full credit to Alfred. Knew he was gonna come at us hard. He was carrying a few injuries but we stuck to our game plan.

Anyone else noticed the rainfall predictions have dramatically fallen but they are still making out like its a massive number that will drive city wide flooding.

2 days ago they were talking 800mm over 3 days. Thats bigger them the 2022 floods of 600-700 mms.

Now they are talking 200-300mms over 3 days. Thats just a typical worst weekend rain of the year event.
