09 draft prospects

Ryan Bastinac, plays with so much composure, has time on his hands when the ball is in them, beautiful kick on either side of his body, and is not afriad to get his hands and knees and go and get his own footy, plays with Tom Scully at Narre Warren, despite what the record says, played junior football with them, and they are both very highly rated, also played football with another kid from stingrays, Jimmy Cotrell, awesome kid, you tell him to run 15km's hee will. go and tell him to tag a 'Trant Cotchin' he would do it, is an impressive player too, strong, tall, quick, beautiful kick, and has a tank like a container ship, MASSIVE, just eyeing these three of for next years draft, they are three that I feel may feature highly, and as Stingrays are going to be aligned with Vic Country will have an even better chance of being selected. (ALthough Scully will still play with Metro, ?? BEATS ME)

Watched him play in the intra team scratchie they played at Fremantle oval a few weeks ago that earnt Mitch Marsh selection into the squad. He took 2 marks & had 3 kicks. If thats not telling you something about how far a name can get you then nothing is. Its a good ole tug of war between cricket & the AFL. Cricket will probaly get him(thats where he belongs) but footy dont want to lose. I believe South Fremantle were asked to supply 5 or 6 fill ins from their colts due to injuries in the 18's squad & not to risk Naitnaui & Rich, who both only played the first quarter. What I did notice was that a few of the lads Souths supplied did play well but obviously not sighted.Kid from Souths wearing state guernsey came on in the second quarter and played on the wing and was outstanding, played the remainder of the game. Got alot of the ball, had pace & a beautiful kick of the ball. Don't know his name, obviously the selectors dont either.

I posted the above in another thread regarding Mitch Marsh.
I have since found out who the kid from Souths was playing on the wing.
His name is Adrian Ricciardello, apparently known as AJ, 187-188cm & solid build.Selectors were impressed with his performance but felt it was too late to include him in the side. Have heard chatter that this could have been a costly oversight. He played on Stephen Hill and matched his ability if not better.
One for the scouts to look out for.

Throwing my NSW hat in the ring.
Dylan McNeil (is eligible this year).
Had a very consistent carnival and was right up there in clearances. Plays for the Bushies, so is exposed to the best week in week out. Size may be only factor to count against, realisticly wont go first round but second or third is not out of the question.

A Player i believe will go high in the 2009 draft is Liam Jones from Tasmania. He is a AIS scholarship holder who is not eligible for this year. He is around 195 cm i believe and plays as a CHF/CHB and has wonderful hands and running ability. I watched him play against my school in the APS before he injured his knee meaning he missed the carnival. Anyone else know of him? thoughts?

Anybody care to tell on what position Scully, Lucas and Butcher play and from an estimate which is the pick of the bunch currently as the frontrunner for no.1? :)

oi pigs
wat about flipping beeeeej
he towell up scully wen they played each other
made AA team 2 yr's in a row in the U15's gettting the mvp of the carni last yr....
he rips it for brighton grammar 1's each week racking up an average of 30+ possies, although he will b bottom age, u would think he would go high.....
swart as
xoxoxo

Mitch Marsh (South Freo/WA) - if he chooses AFL.

Brad Sheppard (East Freo/WA) and Mitch Duncan (East Perth/WA) were both fairly solid in WA's backline in this year's championships (played 4 games each).

Anthony Morabito (Peel/WA) - played of HB in the VM and only got it 5 times, but moved really well (has some pace to burn) and at 192cm, 93kg already a very good height/weight and seems like he could play multiple positions/roles. Will be interested to see how he goes next year.

Allen Christensen (Vic Country) - liked his game against WA, playing through the middle and of a HFF. Someone on EFH mentioned that a couple of recruiters feel he'll be in the top 5 next year.

Luke Tapscott (South Aus) kicked 9 goals in 2 games of this year's championships as a small forward.

Not from WA/Vic/SA, but Jesse Crichton, Ryan Harwood (Tasmania) and Jeremy Kirkwood (NSW/ACT) - the man famous for his job on Rich - all had good championships and will probably feature somewhere.
what does efh stand for??
and butcher is a superstar

marsh is too one dimensional and would be a fool to choose football.
as much as u want to keep people in the game he either takes the mark and kicks the goal or does nothing
doesent chase or offer much else to a team
have seen him be literally dominated in psa school games and in one particular game brad shepphard would have had 30+ easily off halfback and marsh really had no effect on the game.

i personally think there is better players in 16's than marsh when it comes to key forwards.. darling? dobson?

play cricket marshy

Dan Hanneberry

******** gun player. Has the skills, no question there, high marking ability, can play midfield, off half back and go forward and kick some freak goals.

A massive tank, would not be surprised if he wins beep test at draft camp.

Will go top 10 in 09 i would imagine. Better than Scully, but in the same mould, better footy smarts and marking than Scully though.

Has played Oakleigh around 4-5 times with all times being in the best, including 3 best ons, all while being bottom age.

Destined for greatness. Hopefully at the bombers!

Isn't he nominating this year? His birthdate is 24-Feb-91 (cut off is 30-Apr-91) according to the U18 Champs Teamlist.

hahaha you're having a laugh surely? Scully, Lucas and Butcher are the top 3 prospects at this stage... and besides, Hannebery will get picked up this year in late 2nd round or early 3rd.. expect a lot of bottom age kids who are eligible to get picked up this year... teams won't be passing on picks with concessions coming in soon thats for certain.. teams will use their 5th and 6th round picks instead of passing on them like usual

Are you a mate of his from xavier?
Probably, there have been a few xavier kids pumping this guy up.

IMO it really matters who finish bottom next year for the order they go in, but for me it's butcher>lucas>scully

There sure is, he is a gun midfielder whos playing reserves footy and still only in yr 11. No relation to Jackson trengove i THINK u never know

When is Jackson Trengove back? anyone got any information on his injury?
only seen him play last year for school footy and is a very good ruckman.:)

Ryan Bastinac, am not pumping his tyres up like some people on here, but is tearing it up alongside Scully at Stingrays in the TAC cup, is a really damaging player, wors both ways, is good overhead and is a smooth mover, has both feet. Will be one to be looked at, hm interesting, wonder if he will get opposed to Scully next year.

Scully (Vic Metro)

V

Bastinac (VicCountry)

tantelizing.

yep Bastinac looks like a real player

yeah, real good bloke too, played footy with him, will be looked at closely one may imagine come draft day 2009, another one, Jim Cotrell, tall 190+ running player, needs to bulk up if he wants to play key position, but his biggest asset is his engine, kid runs all day. takes a good contested grab, and is really good below his knees for a big bloke.

Bein told by afew people that scully is an absoulute gun.
also to watch next year will be Daniel Talia from Caldor.
Plays school footy for ACK and has had a sick year and every now and then plays for Caldor. Played on the weekend against Western Jets only played a half kicked 2 goals and had 20plus touches.
194 cms, runs all day, plays on ball/ CHF for school alongside Jamie Sheahan(plays vic country) and Jackson Garvey-Hawke who has dominated the AGSV this year and may be in the lead to win ACK BnF.:D
