Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner
DOB: 19 May 2001
DEBUT: 2020
DRAFT: #39, 2019 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Willetton (WA)/Aquinas College (WA)/East Fremantle (WAFL)

He is going to be one of the highest paid players in the league regardless of what decision he makes.
And I get the feeling he is about to show everyone why. Not that he didn't show us all last season. I still think he has another level to his game. He is still very young, just like Gulden too.

A lot depends on whether we improve our contest and clearance work. If so, and if we provide better service to the fringes and outside, that should be possible.
This is where Mills and hopefully Sheldrick come into it.

Of all the long bows on Chad, it's Harley Reid?

Even if there is a tiny shred to this West Coast now has to sign Harley to a godfather extension prior to signing Chad to just under a godfather offer. Because not a chance Chad signs on at WCE without it, IF Reid is the reason he would play there. If anything that article should give Swans fans more hope, not less.

It’s not Harley. Last year Warner expressed it would be exciting to play with Harley but who wouldn’t? Some journos over here latching onto it and suggesting it’s just because of Harley is ridiculous.

It’s family and secondarily money. Sydney are an extremely well run club that looks after their players and if the club was based in WA he probably would have signed a life deal by now.

Absolutely. That's why I think its a long bow to draw, and while it is always good to play with good players and ensure the team is better placed, if that actually comes into Chad's overall decision making, then I think he stays.

Imagine being the player wanting to go home because the pull is too great and then putting your eggs into the basket of another player that ever since the ink dried on his first contract there have been wolves at the door to move back to Victoria.

If he does indeed go to WC it is for family (happy wife/happy life) and a little more money. And potentially it will be because Gulden kicked him off the couch.

****s sake just get Harley over here and start winning flags then. Simple.

If you ignore the guff about Harley, the underlying message is that he's most likely to leave:

“The industry feel right now - and this is only industry feel and it doesn’t mean he goes - but the industry feel is that Chad Warner does go to West Coast at the end of this year when his contract is up.

“There’s not one person in footy - including Sydney Swans people - who feel right now, or are confident, that Chad Warner stays,” Barrett added.

My sources say Reid will be out of there and is so it makes the media stories crap

Damian Barrett is now reporting on the Warner situation?

Finally! A voice of authority & conviction.

In other news, former Swan Mason Wood has been cleared of any serious injury after leaving the track early at St Kilda's training last week. Good news!

He also said St Scum is looking at Ben Reid in the MSD as hes playing for East Brighton which is only a torpedo from Moorabbin

Yeah. I mean Damian Barrett is perhaps the least credible person these days. He just mumbles crap and makes everything up just to lead into his next "story"
Hutchy is the same, he makes things up to make $$ for his company.

I do enjoy them as entertainment, but that is about it, they don't know much, and they don't have inside knowledge of anything.

So called Fox journo's are the worst

Funnily enough, spotted Tom Browne buying a coffee today, who now works in my building.

Should have asked him for a scoop on Warner so we'd at least know what isn't going to happen.

Should have told him Warner is going to sign soon. Probably would have gone with the story.

McDonald is from WA and didn't sign till late in the season last year. There's still plenty of time. Plus they drafted his brother which at the time his mother was very happy about.

Seriously how much money do these players need? Average wage is 400k... How many people here are on half that? Plus when they retire it's not like they're 65. They've still got 30 years of working life to go.
