From the Club website:

Hamish McIntosh has opted to have year-ending LARS surgery in an effort to be fit and firing for 2013.

Playing without a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) for the past four years, the 27-year old didn't pull up as well as expected from his first VFL match after rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained in Round 7.

After consulting with club doctor Andy McMahon, director of medical services Steve Saunders and specialists, it was decided he should have a synthetic graft inserted to fully replace his PCL and stabilise his knee.

Hopefully this will result in one of those miraculous returns, post a LARS op. Shitty luck again for H but I hope it ends up being a real positive for both him and the team.

All the best big fella! :thumbsu:

It is only the PCL, as you can tell he has played for 6 years without one so I am sure it will be fine. One has to wonder why it wasn't fixed properly when he had his feet done unless they didn't know.

Surely we upgrade Majak now, despite his indifferent VFL form. Mabon is not ready and we need another ruckman available heaven forbid the Iron Goldy goes down.
We have a spare upgrade available, we can elevate him whenever we need him.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there hasn't been a great deal of success with LARS in AFL. Malceski and Rodan came back quickly, but are no longer best 22 at their clubs. Who else has had it?
Malceski is playing decent footy again...he had a flat period but heard them talking him up on "on the couch" this week.

Good Luck H.

Interesting they have chosen LARS given the debate about its effectiveness. What it does do is give both the club and H options giving its timing. Smart move.
Was there any other option considering he didn't have a PCL in the first place?

Rodan is best 22, he'll play this week now Primus has been given the boot. For some reason Primus didn't like him.

Here's to a Monster 2013!
