so,if he wants to leave he takes a pay cut,or accepts whatever they offer him,
I doubt its about him wanting to leave, more about the club trying to free up cap space to chase another player.

One would hope McIntosh is amicable to the club pursuing a deal to a Vic based club (despite being contracted) due to the circumstances.

If we hadn't paid Hale's salary for the last 2 years we wouldn't have Kieran Harper. I think it was a great move to get the deal across the line.

Correctamundo. Finally some sense.

Majak & Goldy are our future. *new addition + Drew and the developing Mabon as back up. Maybe rookie someone as well if you want.

>10% of ones list on ruckmen is just pure lunacy given the fact it's a midfielders sport.

Majak is harder around the contest and superior at centre bounces than Goldy & H. Both of them lack presence.

Pick 15 on it's own would suffice.

I would rather us not use 2 first rounders on Caddy - I would be ultra keen on us drafting 2 quality outside players with Picks 14 & 15. If we were able to snag 2 of Mcrae, Kennedy, Garlett & Simpson - I would be on a semi fat all summer.

If we all agreed with this and hailed you a trading genius would you shut up and never post a trade suggestion again?

Unless we can snag an AFL ready ruckman as appropriate backup, i'm not willing to have Goldstein (who didn't exactly light the world on fire last year) play by himself with a 194cm Rookie and another rookie that looks 194cm as a backup.
If we were to hypothetically grab a replacement that could fill Goldie's shoes if he were to go down, then MAYBE i'd consider the trade, on the proviso that another club could offer an area that we desperately need. As it stands, I can't find a player that I think would dramatically improve our side, that we could trade for Hamish.
The only thing that i'd want would be Geelong's compo, to package to GWS for Martin/Hogan. A real A-Grade draft pick to cap us off.

So, to sum up the last pages on the three threads on these topics, we trade out Hamish for pick 15 and salary cap relief, we trade out Pedo and a pick downgrade for Wellingham and then go for Caddy and Goddard.

So if we lose two players, one a key ruck and the other a depth KP, and don't see a draft pick until the third round, but gain Goddard, Wellingham and Caddy...

We think we are in for a flag in two years. And we are amazingly shrewd.

While it would leave our ruck stocks looking pretty shit, I would ask for Duncan/Christensen. Geelong would say no (surely they would say no!) but we would be idiots to not at least try.

Geelong can't afford to lose quality.

It's the reason they are chasing everything in footy shorts.

90% of our problems are in the midfield, I've merely suggesting ways to fix this without hurting our overall structure.
I'd like you to get on board. You keep arguing what happens if Goldy or H goes down, suggesting we are screwed.... well guess what, it happened this year and we were the best we've been this milenium.

Hamish is sooooo overrated on these boards by some pretty reasonable North people, it's not funny. He is a terrible mark, terrible centre square ruckman with minimal presence and lets face it, one decent injury away from retirement.

This isn't a new hobby horse for me, check back to this time last year and I was all over him being moved on then.

I'm sorry that you can't see the silver lining of getting in a Caddy or a Wellingham or even a Goddard but I can, 1. Essendon doesn't get them 2. We get to sort out the very same issue you have been banging on about for 12 months. EXPERIENCED BIGGER BODIES in the midfield. People capable of being defensive at stoppages with an ability to hurt going the other way. I'm staggered that you can't see where i'm coming from nor the reason's behind such a radical recruitment strategy.

I also don't want to overpay, and would be just as happy to go back to the draft where we've had recent success. But this is our last chance to trade Hamish before he goes for nothing as a FA next year.

Just go with it HTB, 9th, 9th, 8th & smacked in a final is improvement but i'm looking for a little bit more whilst Petrie, Harvey & Wells are still a factor.

It's the reason they are chasing everything in footy shorts.
The other reason is that it's probably the first time in 4 years they have had salary cap room. Obviously they would be reluctant to give up their 2nd and 3rd best young mids, but we are losing an important player, we would be merely asking for a very good return.

Not sure why they would want H-Mac, he's 28 or so, unless they think they can challenge again soon? He's not going to be around for another 5 or 6 years, he's probably had too many injuries in the past couple of years (2x achilles surgery, knee surgery) and so you would think 3 more years of service would be good. So with West and Vardy being more than serviceable as a duo, why would you chase a ruck? If they wanted to chase quality, they would be better off getting another mid/forward in the Chapman, Johnson mould, as Chapman's in the twilight of his career.

Goddard to North makes a huge amount of sense to me.

He wants to go to an up-and-coming or contending club and we are crying out for leadership in that 25-27yo age bracket & across halfback.

$800k is his asking price - not for us at that price.
Hmmm...so whats the deal there i wonder? Sounds like he has an offer interstate but is seeking out to see if theres interest in Melbourne so he doesn't need to move.

McIntosh being courted doesn't suprise me, but Delaney, really! I watched our final against WC and we were crying out for bigger bodies guys with a bit of mongrel in them. Did we not learn anything?

We wouldn't get much for him, bloody crazy if he goes. What, does Scott want North to be soft cock central?

If Goddard would accept 2.4m over 3 years to come to North I'd be fine with that. Front end as much of it as possible. I think people are underestimating how much better he'd much us.

Happy to trade Delaney. If one of the defenders goes down we can swing Lachie to his best position and get games into Daw or Black. Of course, if Spare Keys or Kennedy are ready to take on a key role then that would also work.

We're not at all light on for key position depth.

I'm told thats his asking price - $800k by 3. The man is quality, no question about that. Maybe we would forget the price after a few BoGs from him.
