first with da scoop

I watch West Coast all the time and all Cox does is rack up cheap possessions and cheap marks from the point kick-ins.

Hmac > Cox so far in 2009

Spot on Carnthe.

But the thing is Cox still got his 20 or so cheap touches so everyone will continue to think he is the king.:thumbsu:

Cox has the runs on the board...for mobility and impact he probably has been the benchmark over the past 5 odd years....

If H is performing consistently like this over the next 2 years lets revisit the comparison....

Lions still a tall order: McIntosh

DESPITE a glaring weakness in the Brisbane Lions' ruck division, North Melbourne's Hamish McIntosh knows he must go well beyond beating his direct opponent at Docklands on Saturday.

Injuries have left key position player Mitch Clark and utility Jared Brennan to shoulder the ruck, while North has a string of options with McIntosh, back-up Todd Goldstein, acting captain Drew Petrie and full-forward David Hale.

McIntosh said his coaches and teammates had discussed the importance of midfield pressure more than the ongoing danger of key forwards Jonathan Brown and Daniel Bradshaw.

Brown and Bradshaw have combined for 22 goals in their last two games against the Roos.

"They have a quality midfield with (Simon) Black, (Luke) Power, (Jed) Adcock and a few other guys through there," McIntosh said.

"If they get the ball out of the middle and hit up Bradshaw and Brown, there's not a lot our defenders can do.

I suggest everybody go to the site and have a read of that article. There's some stirring words in there from big Hamish. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Props to Rock for coming on over and putting a lot of emphasis on his tap work. I think for Hamish to become a truly great ruckman he still needs to persist working on his tap outs.

It is clear as day that he is a hard worker, and what's more obvious is the benefits of him working hard. The reward is sensational form.

Very good around the ground but still needs to work on his taps. Still palms the ball to congestion or the advantage of the opposition far too often. Wasn't on his own, but should have nailed that goal. Has swallowed those on other occasions.

Agree. I don't think he'll ever be great like that to be honest. In a couple of years if we don't stuff it up Goldy and H will be an extremely dangerous combination.

I thought it was the best game I have seen him play. However, he isn't All Australian. I have read his stats today and he has zerooooo taps to advantage. After reading people's post about the terrific game he had against Hawthorn in which he had 41 tap outs I noticed he had 7% to advantage ( less than 1 per quarter ). With H I think many North supporters wear rose coloured glasses. Oh and before everyone blames the midfield there is a bloke named Goldstein that had around 20% tap outs to advantage last night.

Goldstein will surpass McIntosh in on field effectiveness as early as next year. With H playing 2nd fiddle they will be regarded the best ruck combo in the comp and Goldstein will be up there for All Australian honours.
