Next year it'll more be up to Hogan than us. He's out of contract, he has the power. If WC are offering a better deal for Melbourne, but paying Jesse a lot less than Freo, he won't go there

If the club has the inkling he will leave next year, i'd rather him go this year. Gives us a start to prepare for life without him now, instead of putting another year into him
Of course it will be up to Hogan, he has to agree to anywhere we trade him, even this year. Same thing if Fremantle offer him huge money and West Coast don't, then he won't agree to go to West Coast.

I completely understand preparing for life without him, but for me we should be doing everyone to have life with him.

anyway I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree, hopefully Hogan comes out saying he wants to stay for the long term and then we can all be happy.

I'm not sure i'm comfortable with whoring ourselves out to keep him :p

Bad comparison. Beams was never rumoured to be wanting to leave in 2013. GWS even offered up high picks for him then (search dayne beams trade with a 2013 date range, there is nothing)
I'm curious though, what do you think we could do to convince him in the next 12 months that he's not already sold on? Especially if the rumours about his fathers health are accurate Marc_Remillard might know better about this than me
nah mate, I only know what's been floating around the forum sites, no inside info from me on this topic

I don't think Blackas87 was specifically suggesting he, you or anyone sell sex for money etc, but I understand the general principle of what you are getting at.

On the more warm and positive side, in the event Hogan does - and I'm yet to be convinced - decide to bugger off rather than remain, there is more than one club in the picture from all accounts which positions us a bit better than otherwise and also, there is nothing particular out there at all from anything Jesse has said that he would be likely to be party to screwing over his current club (assuming he hasn't read the Toump Watch thread so doesn't realise what awaits in the event he did leave).

Sir Hugh? Any objections?

I'll give it some serious thought, subject to availability and leave provisions etc.

Just a few more minor sacrifices from a generous few and we bank a KP of quality for a decade
No objections from me; I can even supply some barnyard animals if we think it'll get him across the line.

Hi there, sorry for the drop-in! I have been closely watching the "Hogan" thread on our board and it will be interesting how this all pans out. It obviously depends on Hogan first and he is a 50/50 at staying anyway I reckon so it could all be smoke and mirrors.

Just wondering what you think Melbourne FC would want for Hogan, should he ask for a trade. What would be the minimum?

Freo have picks 3, 39 obviously that is not enough. WCE have picks 12, 30 which is not close. Both teams are set to go to the trade table to improve their picking order. Assuming you are after just picks, what picks would be satisfactory?

Quite a bit of debate on our board involves pick 3 and pick 10 - (Weller to Saints\or straight swap) as a starting point.

Also, do you have a preference with whom to trade with, or just the best outcome for Melbourne FC?

cheers, and good luck in 2017, pretty sure you guys will be in the 8.
We don't want picks for him we want quality players, preferably a Darling type. This is MFC only, pretty clear in the thread title, so if i were you i'd stick to making your hypothetical offers for him in the D & T thread...

Technically this is a Melbourne only thread so the idea is that opposition supporters lurk, get outraged and go back sniggering to their own board.

You however don't appear insane or clearly trolling so I'll bite.

I would be very surprised if, in the unhappy event that Hogan went, anyone here would care who is traded with of Freo or WC. It would be entirely on the basis of what works out best for MFC would be the preferred thing.

I'm also not certain we would be after just picks given the fragility of our forward line sans Hogan (Weed very young, Watts best as a third tall - link man - swing man and apparently now occasional back up ruck, other big men on list more of the depth variety or oh-Christ-no variety) so despite his stagnation in the past few years, WC might have preference if Darling came back.

I dunno. I'm not even a good pretend list manager. Anyway we have an increasing board commitment to selling our bodies rather than hogan. Mind you it could be that a few are keen to go that way in any case. I don't like to judge.

I could supply some the aforesaid barnyard animals of the blow up variety if you think that might help, they make the appropriate noises, (or so I am told)!! Would certainly add another dimension to the weirdness of how this thread is trending!!

Because you quoted me discussing the law behind a restraint of trade...like it was the entire premise of the quote you posted. You made a dispute to this being a restraint. I've mentioned in like 3 times now, since it was part of the discussion.
You are weirdly passive agressive. Stick to the topic, not that hard.

I like the lengths you're now going to, as if the club is going to de-list him instead of dealing with a WA club. Are you ross lyon?
You see thoughts and intentions in people that are not there. Almost every post you make is hostile. Try being a bit more laid back.

I wasn't being hostile. Slightly condescending if anything since you had a crack at me for discussing something with you, that was contained in the post you quoted of mine
I assume you've never read any of my posting if you think that was hostile

Although your first sentence is funny, in context of the rest of the post  I notice not much response to what my post actually said though

Talking footy saying that have strong word out of Melbourne that Hogan won't be asking for a trade this year, also Hogan won't be committing to Melbourne for the long term this off season. Melbourne also will not be putting him up for trade.
See you all in 12 months!

But with NicNat shot, Freo collapsed and everyone expecting finals for us...if we make the eight and both WA teams miss it's game on.
Talking footy basically said Hogan will analyse which club is best for his future. Carey says that's Melbourne, Watson says if Freo with Fyfe back bounce back up Hogan may think they are the best option. Hopefully our rise continues.
