My guess now is he'll be wearing a Melbourne jumper when the NAB Challenge starts next February but will still be unsigned. It will drag out for most of the year, to the point where he signs a 2-year extension (TMac style) or asks for a trade at the end of the year. More likely the latter. He won't cope with the scrutiny in 2017 and will manage just 38.31 for the year. He'll then 'nominate' Freo who, no doubt, will have finished in the top half again. We'll get their shitty first round pick and a player who is good now but will turn into a spud. Hogan will then miraculously lose his stutter and kick 80 goals in 2018.

Ch9 news was interesting.

Think Hogans manager is a moron.

Of course your client is at mixed minded at what he want's to do. That's your job to assist him. He sounded like Hogan was a pain in the arse to manage.

He's gone, he's manager is softening us for the inevitable decision next year
Even though he has embarrassed himself a couple times in finals we need to make sure we get Darling coming back our way in return for Hogan
Darlings forward pressure is top stuff

Whoa - you're back. I thought you must have gotten yourself suspended or something - probably after the Hawks lost or something.

Does begin to have that whiff about it - or his manager is a weirdo because he is somehow managing to make his client look like a gigantic idiot at present. I'm hoping this is accidental.

Has it been that long? Ive been on the tear for what seems like forever now....
I dunno, maybe his manager is being completely honest and this is him trying to help the fans and the football world, but its a weird statement for someone who was leaning towards staying rather than going

Yeah I had no idea what to make of it, except for the face-value part that there is no trade planned for this trade period. I'll take the best possible interpretation and say that, like the MFC, the manager is just fanning things down, and he would have had the pressure of a few questions etc, so he went all vague with Jesse is really comfortable etc. Could mean he is likely to stay and both parties just want to spend some time over negotiation without scrutiny, or could mean that he has it in mind to depart after this contract and wants to delay the inevitable frenzy of media crap until it can't be avoided. I have some vague sympathy for Hogan as he comes through the whole thing about just not being too comfortable with having conversations with media about this. Not everyone is Dangerfield.

What is pissing me off is this undecided crap. We are stuck in a no win situation this off season. Hate it.

If he wants to go cause of family issues, i dont have a problem, just make a ******* decision though.
Yeah this.
What more convincing does the club have to do?
Great young list, on the up, a good contract offer in front of him I assume and it's not 45 degrees in the middle of winter or a 7 hour flight to get anywhere.

Its not so much what we have done to convince him to stay, as i said if he has family issues, i have no problem with him leaving, just keeping us hanging is what i have the problem with. We will lose all sorts of leverage when he is out of contract next year, sure, we will still get something but what happens if he does his knee next year then decides he wants to leave?

We dont want to trade him now on the chance he does want to stay and would be dumb to do so. But having him play for us next year and then walk out while being bent over at the trade table is equally as stupid.

Its a complete nightmare. Damed if you do, damned if you dont.

Mightn't be as bad as it all sounds. There might be lots more known and established then is being chatted about out there - i.e. its well possible that Jesse would like to remain at Melbourne but is taking his sweet time about it (on Manager's direction) because with offers coming in from other clubs inevitably, he can get maximum value. Could just be being canny.

Remember that we've got a first year coach next year ... taking an extra few months to make sure that Goody is up to it without the training wheels isn't unreasonable.

Unless he misses the whole year with injury, is value will only go up, contracted or uncontracted, won't make a huge difference unless Freo or West Coast finish last, at which point, he'd be very likely to stay with us anyway.

If he has already made up his mind about leaving, I feel we would have heard it from him now. There have been plenty of kids his age with less trade currency come out and declare they want to be moved to a particular club.

If we start the season with him but no contract extension I actually do believe it's because he hasn't made up his mind.
