Play him at FF or close to goal and he will be more effective. Reduces the amount of forward "thinking" he needs to do while getting confidence and means he won't get in the way. I don't have great faith that we can coach him so the simplest option is the best.

Just watched the mark again.

Was an amazing effort, such an athletic beast it's ridiculous.

Kudos to the Pies supporters on the flank/wing clapping also :thumbsu:

Maj actually took a nice contested mark earlier in the game but obviously it was overshadowed by the 'Mark of the Year'.

I really want us to persist with him as a midfielder in the way the cats use that big ex steeplechaser.
The fact he lined up at Ruck Rover in his most recent VFL game tells me we are going to continue down that path. It'll require further education and experience in the role and it's exciting to think what he could make of it once fully armed with that experience and his ability to murder small midfielders with a tackle.

He is quick enough to go with nearly all midfielders. It would be awesome if he could get some more mongrel in him and physically hurt. He would make our midfield definitely walk taller.

yes bloody oath, he brings that and he gets a game every week, he needs to stop being a gentle giant, needs to slam packs and ragdoll flogs when his team mates need him too. just a tad timid at the moment, again something continuity and confidence fixes.
Yes, a gentle giant is a good way of putting it. He needs to establish a few big "Don't f*** with me!" moments. He already has the opposition thinking twice at times. He could potentially stop them thinking once!

You guys must be watching a different player to me. Majak likes to hurt players and has done so a bunch of times already this year in a few games.
He didn't seem to have a problem slamming the king hitting tiprat. Which I applaud.

Although Bruce McAvaney did comment that the tiprat was 'tough'.

One of my pet hates with Maj is when he takes a mark up the ground and takes way too long to get back off his mark and take the kick. Even when he took that's screamer on the weekend he took way too long to get the ball moving again. He needs to zip back off his mark and give our forwards the best chance of getting another posession before the opposition flood back.

Scott Thompson is horrible at this as well

He actually mentioned that Boomer was helping him with that. Thought he was better earlier in the year at it, but was glacial Friday night.

With Maj's skill set, he is not that useful to us with Goldy our key ruck. Maj would be better suited to a side with a second string ruckman as back up.

Because, Maj really doesn't play any other position well and in the centre square he can ruck and ruck-rove. Based on that, we should seek a trade for him and work on Preuss as a back-up for Goldy. Just saying
I dont completely disagree with that but i would say we would be better off contracting him for 2 more years and seeking a trade after next season if it doesnt work out.

He could just hit them a bit harder and nastier (without being dirty either). Whoever he took that speccy over got hit harder than a couple of blokes he tackled cos he was just going flat out and not thinking about who was in the way.

He has his destructive moments. That's what makes us want more brutality from him. He didn't have any Friday night really when he needed too. It needs to become the norm for him (when he gets a game!).

Anyone who thinks we don't need daw is kidding themselves. For the last few years our whole game plan has evolved around centre bounce and ball up clearances off the back of goldies dominance. Now he isn't winning those taps we are spending more time chasing the opposition "ah la Fremantle".
I would like to see them play maj off the back of the square for the first 10 minutes of a game when goldie is rucking so if the opposition win the clearance a few big hit tackles would slow them up or force the rush kick. Mids would be very nervous receiving the ball with him bearing down. Players streaming out of the square then delivering lace out has become to frequent for my liking and almost unstoppable for our defender.
