JB already said they want to take care of Goldy before finals so it really is Maj's time to have a real crack. He will get ruck and forward time Im really excited about these last 4 games. Should get a couple of guys back from injury and hopefully Maj does well and becomes a finals x factor.

Imagine if Maj gets to play in a final and tears it up - the world as we know it would never be the same

Should have played against the Saints and given Waite more time to get right as many posters said. Well Bard now Waite is injured and u look foolish.
Waite kicked 2 goals in half a game and was taken out by one of the saints players below his knees. It was after that incident, while Waite was lining up for the shot for goal that he seemed injured. That's how I saw it anyway. Whoever the saints player was should have been reported for tripping and served weeks because Waite will miss games. I was spewin' Daw got dropped but until Waite got taken out I had to admit it was the right decision. But he really should get a few in a row now.

We want the Saints to peek in two weeks when they play Sydney, so happy for that to go unpunished ;)

Wow Ferball, you really need to take your one eyed goggles off if you think hickey should have been reported. In my opinion it shouldn't have even been a free, just cause I think the rule has gone too far. Waite was clearly injured before it and in that particular play he was so tentative about going for the ball which is the reason he had his legs taken out from him. Hickey was hungrier for the footy and Waite just stood there.

They really need to reasses that rule, as the only incident that's ever caused injury from it is Lindsay on Rohan. Such a reactive rule change at the time, can't believe it even still exists.

Interestingly Brad called stumps on Majak's game ten minutes into the last. I hope you're right. He drops so many marks at AFL level that he eats in the VFL. Wonder why?

Loved that Northern wouldn't kick the ball to which ever side of the ground Majak was on and Werribee looked for Majak at every available opportunity. This guy will be very good for us or someone else. Not sure what would happen if he left and McKenzie got in his way, could be Emelia Earhart all over again as in doubt they'd find the body.
Watching last weekend's highlight package Maj's marks were under very little pressure. Even if the were contested it wasn't that much of a contest. he was dominant. Clearly the defensive standard is alot lower at Northern than in the AFL.

Which is obviously why he needs more games in a row at AFL level. Hopefully he'll get a few now and we can see how he goes in his second or third game in a row. If he has the ability to adjust and go up a level then we should see some sign of it by then.

Brad mention in his press conference today we had the option of going in with a smaller forward structure. No mention of Maj also talked about how good Lachlan Hansen was on the weekend & they had considered playing him forward when he returns.

Brad was asked if Lachie would be considered for a forward role to which he answered that he could play there as he had done so before but that they don't want to set him up to fail when he finally does come back.

That to me seems like Hansen to play defence when he returns.

Who asked the question? Dorothy Dix? That, to me, sounds like he is suggesting he has trade value.
Some gimp. Didn't seem trade-y to me, moreso a 'where the feck is the bloke' question, especially after talking about how we were gonna get all our returning from inury blokes back into the 22.

Nah not taking nothing off - it was my first footy game in Melbourne in over a decade, and I'd had a few beers so my eyes had merged into one.

Ok I just and watched the replay.

Probably a free, no where near as bad as I first said.

I, for one, can't wait to see Maj get a decent crack at it over the next month starting this week with his bunny team Western # sobrave's.

Hopefully, with the assumed knowledge that he has an extended period he can relax and become the X-factor that we know he can be.

Without going around in circles on this topic yes he kicked 2 gls true. But before the Saints game he hasn't done much when he has played especially on the score board after his first half of the year.
Whateva injuries have been troubling him he was better off playing a game or two in the VFL to see if he can run a game out and not being a man down again that could have cost us was my point but it didn't cost us and what's done is done now.

"He should get a few in a row now" refers to Daw in case that was confusing...

I thought Waite was ok physically early, but he obviously wasn't. He still got 2 goals tho so he is obviously going to be good when he is fit. Hopefully the surgery will be successful because if he can recover he could still play a role in finals and next year. It'd be sad if that was it for him cos he has been great for us and deserves a better outcome.

Daw looked too good for the VFL judging by his weekend highlights and its not the first time this year. We need to give him more games. I don't think he is used to the closeness of defensive pressure at AFL level and once he gets that he may start nailing marks the way Brownie has. His physical pressure is what impresses me the most tho. If he started marking more that might change but if not its still a massive asset to the side in finals type pressure situations.

I've been sucked in just like everyone else with Maj's potential.

Can see us all calling for his head come finals.
I don't believe I've been "sucked in" as I look at the age of two forwards and think gees both are past retirement age. Or if you like a side that is sitting eighth has a third of its side over thirty.

We've had plenty of games where the Waites, Petries of this world have delivered not much.

I'll reserve my opinion until Majak gets a number of games without the threat of being axed. 2014 is the last time Maj played consecutive games.

Yeah, forgot to say I totally agree on the vfl route now too, if anything Saturday changed that for me. But I dunno if its something we should apply to someone like Wells.

well that would be a tad unfair to blame Maj if the performance of a 25 game rookie is the difference. Was all of Geelong calling for the head Blicavs after the finals in 2014?

Hope Maj does play. No guarantee that Wood & Waite will be ready by finals. If so, they may be going into finals with no games behind them. Or if we get an injury to Petrie,Brown or Goldy.

Agree with all that and on Daw it takes most ruck/forwards longer to develop. And i don't know many players that play 2nd rucks that dominate games but they still play an important part in the team as a whole. As Daw makes us less predictable assisting Goldy and like u said his physicality also.
Do i think he is a superstar hell no do i think he makes the team and our midfield better yes.
And yes he has things to work on like where to run and be in the right position and take more marks.
But for now i see him as a handy 2nd ruck with 20 games.
Imo some people are expecting to much from him instead of letting it happen naturally but time will tell.

the expectation placed on Maj reminds me of another player that had similar expectations. I do like how you wrote "letting it happen naturally" and that is what we need to do.
