All of this proves to me how far the game has evolved - 35 years ago the likelihood of people going to a game specifically to see a perceived contest between non caucasians and talking the game up on that basis was minimal. The racism that Jimmy Krakeour endured is happily history.

I went to the game on Saturday to watch North with my 6 year old son, who I have brainwashed as much as I can to barrack for the Roos as he sometimes waivers towards the dark side of supporting the Magpies. We live a fair distance away and travelled to Melbourne for other reasons, so we didn’t tell him that we were going to the football until an hour before we left to watch the game, he was very excited as I produced his North jumper, hat and membership for him to wear to the game. His favourite player is Boomer Harvey (or Harvey Boomer as he likes to call him) and he was happy that Boomer would finally be playing. However as the game unfolded and Majak produced goals and excitement from the crowd, I could see that Boomer might have some competition as his favourite player. The smile on his face grew broader with every last quarter goal and I can still hear my sons words ringing in my ears at the end of the game “We smashed’em Dad, by 54 points!”. All he could talk about after the game was Majak and those goals, marks & attempted marks. I think Majak may have cemented my sons support for the Roos and for that I am thankful.
PS Once/If Majak understands the game more he will be unstoppable and I was very impressed with Aaron Black’s game.

Absolutely brilliant story. But you shouldn't have to brainwash your son. I believe the son( Kids) follow who Dad/Mum goes for. I have wifes' family whov'e bought my son a Carlton teddy and blues socks and bootys. But he's not going to barrack for Carlton, he'll be a North supporter and member forever. Has his North Long sleeve jumper, bibs, teddy, footy, scarf, and beanie.

Unfortunately my wife and her entire family are mad Collingwood supporters. I did however sign both my sons (youngest is 2) up as members of North when they were born. Which works well when we receive the membership pack in the mail. Also I have bought many North pieces of merchandise for both of them from the Roo Shop as well.

This is incomprehensible to me.

It's North or a life without shelter, food and water.
Well, apart from the fact that would no doubt relish the opportunity to sleep in the shed and forage his own food, I've grown pretty fond of the kid. Although if this Essendon shit persists he might not live to double digits.

My own mother was a South Adelaide supporter who jumped on the Hawks in the 1960s and despite growing up around the corner from Sheedy my father was a card-carrying member of the original AFL (the Anti-Football League), so I've always been resigned to the fact that my kids might end up supporting another club. Having said that I'm reasonably confident of winning him over in the next couple of years when we start to really get going.

Its easy for me no kids, all my siblings are big North fans.

All nieces & nephews are told they get one present Xmas and birthday if they barrack for anyone other than North. If they barrack for north they get heaps. 6 year old nephew comes home last year and tells his dad he wants to barrack for Essendon like all his mates at school, he tells him that's ok just ring your uncle & let him know.

He stands there straight faced & says direct quote apparently "Nah bugger it l want all my Legos more than l want to barracking for them"

Now that's a good system proven to work currently 7 of 8 nieces & nephews barrack for North.
Geelong got one of them she was a book reader more that a toy person.

loving the stories, and obviously Maj has done for the club what he was recruited for.

But my kids (Hawks & Brissy) ewe............. are too old to be impressed, having been to most of Werribees' matches over the last 3 years. Hopefully over the next 16 weeks they will turn the corner.

To the glorious saviour that is HTB TEFFY SNAKE A ROONIE

Sort your shit out mate, it's old and lame

You need to see past the fanboi bullshit.

He is currently hopeless against any defender that can use their body properly and he is pretty much useless anywhere else on the ground aside from contesting the ruck hit outs.

We can't afford to carry a KPP against good sides.

And what happens if he sticks two of those three marks in the first?
Yeah, but he didnn't.

McKenzie used his body to easily shift Majak out of position on numerous occasions.

Would you be happy with a return of three goals from a key forward who gives our no 1 ruckman a chop out?
That didn't happen did it, and he looked completely lost further up the field.

He's icing, not cake. As usual, it's obviously going to take a few of you some time to come around to this fact.

Possibly he would (without putting words in anyone's mouth), but Maj didn't stick those marks. I'm not trying to lower the vibe, but I think it's reasonable for us hardcore to be more rational than the general football public in our expectations of what Maj can reasonably be expected to provide.

(edit): SB too quick).

Right now we have tarrant injured who would be the only possible replacement for him. Lachie has to play chb. Majak fumbles and has a tendency to make quite easy errors, but he also has the ability and strength to smoke a key defender one on one. We saw it time and again last week where he got into good positions against junior rough who is going to be a very good kpb.

Mix this with black and it adds a degree of unpredictability.

The thing is why is Leigh such a hater?

Time will tell if he makes it, but shirley u hope in the future he does make it Snake Baker ? But I do understand your thoughts on the matter.

Of course I do! Only a complete freakin' moron would see it any other way.

What you saw when he moved out from FF was what I saw week in week out in the VFL. Vanilla.

He's a flat track bully FF at the moment and nothing more. He will not kick a bag against quality defenders. It's pointless playing him against Rutten and Talia next week. They are too smart for him. He would have to get lucky to have any influence on the match.
