A niggling PCL which has been managed.

Interesting.

I would prefer we be cautious with him. He has made his debut and impressed at AFL level, and his consistency at Werribee has certainly improved. His year has been solid and developmentally, his curve is upwards.

Daw has had a posterior cruciate ligament problem which the club has managed during the season.

But North Melbourne decided this week the timing was right to put an end to the emerging forward's season in favour of surgery.

Daw, who kicked four goals in the VFL last week, could have played out the season.

It's expected Daw will be available to resume full training in February.

Meanwhile, North Melbourne coach Brad Scott said enforcer Jack Ziebell would be given until the last minute to prove he has overcome an ankle problem sustained in last week's loss to Adelaide.

Ziebell, who has broken both his leg before, landed awkwardly on his left ankle in the goal square sending shock waves through the Kangaroos camp.

Good decision, nothing more to be gained from playing him this year.

P.S. Love that description of Ziebs

Seems to me like poor management to me. Why not do this a month ago so he is back in January?

agree... he never looked like getting a game months ago why wasn't this done earlier to make sure he can become a regular 22 in 2014. This will impact his pre season and most players struggle if they have no pre season.

this sounds like the "ruckmans knee" issue that caused the rules to be changed, still remains an occupational hazard for ruckmen, especially inexperienced ones, so not totally unexpected, hope he has a good result with the surgery and comes back fighting fit, would still like to see currie get a gig before the seasons over

Same as what Hamish had I'm pretty. Takes a while to come back from, and when you first start running there is considerable residual pain. I'm tipping he wont be back to full fitness by mid way through next year.

Bad injury management

FSN Twitter now saying it's a PCL reconstruction.
Either something went snap this week or it has not been responding to treatment/degenerating as the season has gone on.

Good luck to the bloke in his recovery.

And I find it quite funny that the medical team that has delivered the best injury results in the AFL for the last few years is getting a caning from supporters who have no idea of the medical history of this injury.

Crap management of the bloke again. I feel sorry for him.

6mths, FFS.

Should came back with an even bigger upper body
Any of you guys ever thought everytime the doc asked him how he is going over the last 7 weeks he has said

getting better or feeling ok?

I had a PCL injury when I played and managed it but one week it would feel great and another after a knock it would

be sore.

I played in weeks many of times I shouldn't have and got through fine.

Fact - Daw being out for six months will hinder his 2014

Fact - Having the op 1 or 2 months ago would have lessened the impact

These are unarguable facts and a poor result from our medical team. No one has commented on previous management of players.

But the fact is that this is a poor result.

I agree 100%, we should've rapped him in cotton wool a few months back so he could get a full preseason.

So shocking it needed two threads! (now merged)

The old ruckman's knee. Good luck to Maj and I hope he returns sometime in 2014 ready to roll.

Good to see the Ziebs description.

enforcer Jack Ziebell
The footy world is sitting up and taking notice of our boy JZ without contaminating their descriptions with crap about his unfair tribunal record.
