It will interesting to see what they do with him over the pre-season as he trained exclusively with the backs last year. It seemed they never even looked into midfield time, until Cotchin went down prior to the Sydney game.

It was mentioned in some offical capacity that he will run through the guts, atleast at stages.

His development stalled the last two years after a promising start. I think he needs to play decent midfield minutes for us, we are short on talent through there and need a more even spread of contributors.

Needs to be seriously chalenged by the leaders at our club to get superfit and give us an option through the guts. Has plateaued alarmingly and needs to take the next step. At the moment is just an average footballer but could be so much more

Don't have a problem with him staying a backman. Hopefully be can become a luxury rotating through the midfield allowing Martin/Prestia/Caddy to rest forward when needed.

I think Floss will never be an elite runner. But he doesn't need to be. If he can be in the rotation of inside mids then he will be great value. To me as a back he is very good, but a fill in until we can get someone to free him up to be amid full time (or close to).

If he can play as a mid we have great depth. And the better our midfield the less our defense has to deal with. I hope the club stays on playing him in the middle.

if he is going to make the transition, at least semi-permanent he needs to spend the off-season not only getting much fitter but also with the stoppages coaches and really work on his positioning in close. This is where he could really excel.

The time to switch him into the middle was this season, and he was tried a few times before going back again.
With Caddy and Prestia in I cant see it happening again anytime soon unfortunately.

Vlastuin was drafted as a mid, If we wanted a HBF then we should have recruited that

He must be played mi otherwise trade him, Hes not what we need then

I'd love to see him rotate back and forth.

He's become too good in defence for us to not have him there at all.

Thats not why we recruited him and can find HBF anywhere

We need tough inside mids that get the ball out

Problem is, we have no one to fill his position.

We now have a list of half backs who aren't great defensively (or at least up to Vlas standard).
Houli, Yarran, Markov and Short are great offensively, but in the air especially, can't be relied upon to shut dangerous forwards out of the game.
Then we have more defensive players who aren't best 22 and shouldn't have a spot in the team such as Batch, Hunt, Morris and Broad.

Before his injury, McIntosh actually looked very capable playing down back. Has good size and physicality, but we lose his run when he isn't playing on a wing. So maybe he could allow Vlas to be that inside mid we were crying out for last year.

With Caddy and Prestia coming in, his need to move in the middle isn't as high, but for him to live up to his potential, he needs to be a mid.

Agree with you.
He is not being limited by his position in the side, but by his average tank and speed.
If he can improve this, then he'll be better in the midfield or backline. Vlaustin has great skills, tough and courageous, but just needs improvement in stamina.

With Prestia and Caddy in the side I actually prefer Flossy down back. As people have already mentioned - his poise, physicality and ability to read the play makes him indispensable down back. His inside ball winning ability becomes a strong asset in defense too particularly against resting midfielders and elusive smalls. I think we should try to rotate him through the middle at times but covering him in defense is far more difficult than finding strong inside mids now.
