They are actually very different roles. Half forward is a half-marathon of running to cover the fat side of the ground in defence and then sprinting into forward 50 to crumb the marking contest or get in behind the defence. I love Nick, but these are not his strengths. Half back is either a rebound defender (like Rioli) or an intercept marking role. Nick has made that intercept marking role his own. He's elite. You don't change that.

They swing Balta around forward a lot, I honestly think Vlastuin has more talent as a forward.

Mini used him forward at times when he was the senior coach and he kicked goals, I think he is a more reliable set-shot than Balta.

yep.. was a tough day at the office - with little help from our mid's.
Nick's going to be in for a long year, if he goes down so does our defence

When we drafted him he was All Australian captain and a mid. Due to Deledio, Cotchin, Dusty, Tuck etc his timing meant he never got a chance to play in his natural position. Experts said he was a clone of Voss the way he played as a kid. He's been a phenomenal servant and criminally underrated by the competition. He's never, ever had a decent contract, it runs out 2026. The club should do the right thing and extend him on a very generous wicket as he bloody deserves it.

All Australian, Brownlow and Rising star have zero credibility. I still remember hearing one of the selectors interviewed (think it was Brad Johnson) on the radio in Sydney Stacks 1st season. He was asked how he rated his season thus far in regards to the rising star award and he said he was yet to see him play...... it was like round 9 or 10 ffs! Nobody watches all 9 games every single week so it's completely flawed. Cripps votes v Bonts last years Brownlow sums up what a farce that is.

Really hoping Tigger is able to be our player that doesn't have age catch up to him by 32 years of age. If he is, he will be our next 300 game player. Can only miss 2 matches between now and the end of 2027 for that to happen though. Injury free and form being sustained until then (he'd be 33) would be so deserving of him

Vlastuins first half was one of the best halves of football I have seen from a Tiger player in a long time.


I honestly don't say that lightly, his 1st half was that good.

In the 3rd he didn't see the ball much at as we had it up forward a lot. So he only needed to get a few possessions.
